The course requires that the students submit 4 experimental projects, the methodologies employed in these projects entail: - Introspection. - The experimental method. - Computer modelling. (An awareness of cognitive neuropsychology is also required.) The students also submit 4 essays for the remaining part of their coursework. As an open University Associated Lecturer I am responsible for: The preparation and the delivery of the material for the course (see below). Acting as a personal tutor for 50 students. Marking and feedback of student’s reports and essays. Preparation and delivery of Day Schools (revision). Feedback to Course coordinator regarding the development of future courses. The course was recently revised and input from associate lecturers was considered in this matter. In keeping with the structure of the course I prepare and deliver lectures on: Language understanding: - Language and knowledge. - Language processes and models. - Anaphoric reference. Perception and representation: - Conceptual categories. - Object recognition. - Perceiving and recognizing faces. Problem solving: - Introduction to problem solving. - Analogical problem solving and the development of expertise. - The experimental analysis of analogical reasoning. Memory: - Everyday memory. - The experimental approach to memory systems. - The computer modelling approach to memory systems. - Parallel Distributed Processing and its application in models of memory. 2004 – 2005 Associate Lecturer E.A.I.F.H.E.
