The position is rostered with alternating periods of primarily clinical responsibility and primarily research responsibility, giving protected time for research Employee name: Date: June 2011 Positions reporting to this one: NIL This position will be responsible for the supervision of Clinical Care of registrar staff under supervision of Consultant Medical Staff and to perform administrative duties, teaching and research. Qualifications: Mercy Health Medical practitioner registered in the State of Victoria with experience in neonatal paediatrics. The position is accredited for higher specialist training in Perinatal Medicine by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Clinical: Mercy Health Clinical supervision and support of registrar staff, under ultimate supervision of consultant medical staff. Up to one night cover per week as Consultant in-house. Backup support from senior consultant provided Rostered one day per week as a registrar. Conduct 1 NICU Ward round per week as Consultant. Be available to assist registrars with clinical problems and practical procedures. Attend Developmental Follow – Up Outpatient Clinic. Satisfactory clinical performance Demonstrated ability to work in a team effectively Good risk management and OH&S performance Care of families and staff in NICU Neonatal Fellow – Paediatrics Department Key Result Areas Administrative: Teaching: Research: Mercy Health Key Activities Provide monthly audit of SCN for the Clinical Director - Neonatology (Medical) and for presentation at the Mortality and Morbidity Meeting. Organise Neonatal Journal Club Meetings each fortnight. Perform other administrative duties when called upon. On a monthly basis check discharge summaries are completed. Supervise and support registrars in data entry. Organise Monthly Unit Neonatal Morbidity and Mortality Meeting. Standard Measures Complete administrative tasks as directed Staff feedback Undertake teaching of registrars. Undertake teaching of medical students. Undertake teaching of nursing staff. Others as required by the Clinical Director - Neonatology (Medical). Involvement in teaching Feedback from trainees and nursing staff To take part in, perform and analyze results and publish articles. Publish at least one article per year. Neonatal Fellow – Paediatrics Department Key Result Areas Meetings: Key Activities Hospital Clinical Meeting - weekly Preparation and presentation of Paediatric follow-up of infants born to mothers with interesting or difficult obstetric problems. Presentation of infants with interesting paediatric problems which are judged by the Clinical Director - Neonatology (Medical) to be of educational value to obstetric staff. Standard Measures Attendance at and involvement in meetings. Neonatal Journal Club - Fortnightly Selection of journal articles for presentation. Organization of roster for registrars presenting articles and coordination of distribution of articles in the fortnight proceeding Journal Club. (See individual document). Neonatal Morbidity and Mortality Meeting - Monthly Co-ordinate agenda. Chair meeting. Prepare and present statistics. (See individual document). Perinatal Mortality Meeting – Monthly Prepare and present neonatal paediatric cases. Special Care Nursery Meeting second monthly Participation.
