Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Location: Wakefield Transfer Station 330 Rines Road Date: Saturday, April 18, 2015 8 A.M. to 12 noon Wakefield and Brookfield residents are invited to participate in a special Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at the Wakefield Transfer Station. This collection will allow Wakefield and Brookfield residents the opportunity to remove hazardous substances from their homes while ensuring safe and clean disposal at proper waste collection facilities. In doing so, we help keep hazardous substances out of local landfills and homes, resulting in a safer community and a cleaner environment. Please note: Participants must have a valid Transfer Station sticker to participate. All materials must be in original containers with labels. PLEASE BRING: YES From the Yard: Insect spray, Weed killers, Pool chemicals, No-pest strips, Poisons, Charcoal lighter fluid, Fungicides, Fertilizers with pesticides or herbicides, Flea Powder. From the Garage: Acids, Carburetor cleaner Creosote, Engine degreaser, Radiator flush, Roofing tar. From the House: Bathroom cleaners, Drain cleaner, Oven cleaner, Metal polish, Mothballs, Photo chemicals, Rug cleaner. From the Workbench: Brush cleaners, Corrosives, Rust preventative, Wood preservatives, Paint thinner, Turpentine, Lead and oil based paint, wood stains/finishes/ strippers, Solvents. Asbestos Explosives, Ammunition Radioactive Materials Water-reactive Materials Road Flares Infectious Waste Pathological Waste Unknown Wastes DO NOT REMOVE THE WASTE FROM YOUR VEHICLE: A station attendant will verify if it is acceptable for the collection. The Town has the right to reject any liquid, material or substance, which in the opinion of the Station Manager constitutes a serious hazard to others, to the property of the Town, or its employees. IMPORTANT NOTICE: The City of Rochester will conduct its Household Hazard Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 2, 2015, 8:30a – 12:30p, and you may take appropriate materials to that facility as well.
