GENERAL REGULATIONS
Entries will be welcome from all districts in Shetland
ENTRY FORMS can be obtained from the Secretary, or any member of the Committee. Entries can be made on ordinary notepaper when entry forms are not available.
The Committee intends to have a Catalogue of Entries printed, prior to the Show. To make this possible the Secretary must have all entries as soon as possible and in any case not later than Sunday
12th July. Entries may also be given to Committee Members at least two days before the above date. In all cases entries must be accompanied by the correct fee.
When prizes are offered IN KIND, entry for them means that the successful exhibitor agrees to accept the IN KIND.
IN ANY SECTION where the number of entries does not exceed the number of prizes the Committee MAY AWARD a less number of prizes. In the event of insufficient funds being available the Committee
reserve the right to award prizes pro rata.
Judges have power to disqualify any exhibit which is not in accordance with the wording of the Schedule.
The decision of the judges will be final, but Exhibitors dissatisfied with an award may lodge a PROTEST which must be made in writing to the Hon. Secretary, IN NO CASE must protests verbal or written
communications of any kind be addressed to the judges. Each protest must be accompanied by a deposit of £2 and it must be made within one hour of the announcement of the award against which the protest is made.
Should the protest not be upheld by the Committee the deposit will be forfeited.
ALL STOCK entered for the Show must have been in the possession of the exhibitor and been in Shetland for at least TWO CALENDAR MONTHS Previous to the Show.
No Trophies to go out with Shetland.
In the Field Produce, Flower and Vegetable Sections, exhibits must be grown by the exhibitor.
In the Hosiery and Handcraft Sections exhibits must be the work of the entrant.
Small items, may be handed in on the evening previous to the Show to the Secretary, or to the Stewards of there Sections. These items must be clearly marked with entrants name and the class for which they
are entered in.
EXHIBITS TO BE HANDED IN TO THE HUTS/TENTS ON THE SHOWFIELD FROM 8A.M – 10.00 A.M. ALL EXHIBITS must be NUMBERED and in their appropriate places by 10.00 am when judging should
begin unless otherwise stated. NO EXHIBIT CAN BE REMOVED BEFORE 4.30p.m. on the day of the Show.
Exhibitors themselves are responsible for seeing that the correct entry Number, as printed in the Catalogue, is placed on their entries. Stewards will, however, do all in their power to see that the numbering is
correct.
In cases of special necessity, upon application to the President or Secretary of the Society, special permission MAY by granted for earlier removals of exhibits, but it must be understood that only exceptional
reasons can justify this as removal of exhibits will spoil the Show.
Exhibitors wishing to sell their exhibits must attach a ticket indicating that the article is for sale.
Exhibitors themselves must be responsible for sales, at or after 4.30 pm
THE SOCIETY DOES NOT HOLD ITSELF RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE TO EXHIBITS.
The Society does not hold itself responsible for any ACCIDENT occuring during the Show. Hence sightseers and others must exercise the greatest care and caution when near the Horses, Stock, etc
DOGS ARE NOT ADMITTED TO THE SHOWFIELD EXCEPT ON CHAIN OR LEASH.
EXHIBITORS ARE SOLEY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WELFARE OF THEIR PETS AND LIVESTOCK WHILST ON THE SHOWFIELD. ALL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS MUST ENSURE THAT
CURRENT BIO-SECURITY LEGISLATION IS ADHERED TO.

TRANSPORT OF ANIMALS TO SHOWFIELD
The Society propose to assist exhibitors with the cost of transporting animals to and from the showfield Exhibitors should write to the
secretary after the show giving details of total expenditure and the Society will refund 50% off that sum. The above offer is subject to
Society funds being available and the committee being satisfied that the transport used is reasonable for the number of animals transported

Entry Money:£2 per class. Exhibitors are only required to enter numbered classes below. Please state: name of each pony on entry form; number and layout of double/single pens required
TIMES – Ridden Classes will start at 8.30am. In-Hand classes will start immediately after Ridden Classes have finished. In hand classes in both rings will run concurrently
(e.g both Stallion classes, will start at the same time, then, neither Gelding class will start until both Stallion classes have finished)
Rules – Only registered ponies may enter. Three year old fillies with foal at foot may not be shown. All foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on the show day. Children under 14yrs on the show day
may not show colts (excluding foals) or entire males in the In-hand classes. Children 14 yrs and under on the show day must wear hard hats to the current safety standard in the in-hand classes. Children
under 11 yrs on the show day may not show entire males in Ridden classes. All exhibitors in the Ridden classes, irrespective of age, must wear hard hats to the current safety standard. In Ridden classes, if
a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring, rider dismounted, and take no further part. Winners of ridden classes not to compete for overall championship, though
ponies may enter suitable in-hand classes. Shetland ponies entered in the Shetland Pony section cannot be entered in the Horse & Pony Section. However Ridden Shetland ponies may enter the Working
Hunter in the Horses & Ponies Ring later on the show day but MUST NOT cross the showfield until permitted and accompanied by a Steward during the lunch break
