There are 232 digital media companies in Manitoba with demonstrated expertise in 2-D and 3-D computer animation, web development, visual effects, CD-ROM and software development, and music and sound processing. The province also supports the industry with the Manitoba Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit. It is a refundable Manitoba corporate income tax credit, up to a maximum $500,000 credit, equal to 40 per cent of eligible labour costs for an eligible interactive digital new media project. Digital media/new media is the use of new and emerging interactive digital content for the purposes of entertaining, educating and informing. It bridges the arts, culture and technology including web design, mobile content, e-learning, interactive entertainment and games, digital film and animation.
