Elite Coach Development Recruitment Process for ECB Master Coach (UKCC Level 4) Post Graduate Diploma in Personal and Professional Development in partnership with the University of Gloucestershire Background Since 2000 the ECB Level 4 qualification has been developed to equip coaches working in, or aspiring to work in the high performance environment. As the majority of these coaching roles are now occupied by coaches at or working towards Level 4, we have the opportunity to target Level 3 graduates who have the potential and aspiration to fulfil one of these roles in the future. In recent years the intakes reflect the opportunity to broaden the target group for recruitment to include coaches operating within the performance development and performance environments within Non-First Class Counties. In April 2009 Cricket was recognised as the first sport to achieve UKCC Level 4 “Endorsement”. This created the opportunity for the ECB Level 4 programme to continue its development in partnership with Sports Coach UK. In January 2010, the England & Wales Cricket Board and the University of Gloucestershire entered into an arrangement through which successful candidates would not only achieve the ECB Master Coach (UKCC Level 4) Award but also be able to achieve the Post Graduate Diploma in Personal and Professional Development. The first cohort of coaches to achieve this new qualification graduated in October 2012. The ECB remain the only National Governing Body of Sport to have achieved this level of accreditation. The additional cost of the Post Graduate Diploma is incorporated into the course fee for this cohort but will be increased for the intake in 2014 onwards to accommodate the additional charges.
