Coaching Opportunity – Vancouver Freestyle Ski Club. The VFSC is accepting applications for the position of Senior Coach – Grouse Mountain. Application deadline: June 30, 2007 Position title: Senior Coach – Grouse Mountain Length of contract: 5 months November - March – with potential for renewal Reporting relationship: The Senior Coach – Grouse Mountain reports to the Club President and the Board of Directors of the VFSC Athlete size and age group: Approximate 50-55 athletes aged 6 to 14 Responsibilities: Pre-season duties: - Attending VFSC Board meetings and assist in planning; - Recruitment, coach orientation and scheduling of junior coaching staff; - Assisting with member recruitment, attending registration night and other promotional events when required; - Meeting with Grouse Mountain management; January – March : - Administration and on-hill coaching of the RBC Jumps and Bumps Program two days per weekend on Grouse Mountain; - Administration of Free-ride Program (terrain park) one evening per week (the on-hill coaching of this program could be included in the Senior Coaches contract if he or she is qualified); - Providing leadership, direction, mentoring and technical training for the junior coaches. - Ensuring that the J&B coaches are following the coaching criteria/guidelines as per the RBC Jumps and Bumps program and completing the athlete evaluation for the athletes at end of season; - Assisting in evaluation and certification of junior coaches of the club; - Liaison with Grouse for the organization of the annual Jumps and Bumps Competition including course building and working closely with the Competition Committee; Communicating promptly with members, parents, and the Board via email, and phone; Maintaining close communications with the Senior Development Team Coach at Cypress Mountain to facilitate the sharing of information and resources; Maintaining training facilities, on-hill equipment storage and working closely with Grouse Mountain Staff Requirements: Competitive, Coaching, and some administrative/management experience Fully certified NCCP Level 2 Moguls. Knowledge of all aspects of Freestyle Skiing, from beginner training programs such as RBC Jumps and Bumps, to provincial and national level competition.
