Written agreement for formal relationship between The
International Society of Gynecological Pathologists (ISGyP)
and The International Gynecological Cancer Society (IGCS)
Purpose:
 To work more closely together on gynecological cancer and facilitate exchange of
knowledge in this area throughout the world.
 To incorporate pathology into multidisciplinary curricula for education and
training in developing countries.
 To collaborate on new strategies and programs to attract educational grants from
industry in order to better support educational activities.
 To pursue all of the above while maintaining intact each society’s identity and
principles, including their respective journals and specific activities.
Objectives:
ISGyP is involved in all IGCS activities related to pathology, e.g.:








IGCS Biennal International Meeting: Pathology Symposium and all pathology
contents throughout the meeting.
Off-year meetings (one to two)
Regional meetings: pathology curricula for education and training.
Multidisciplinary workshops/meetings in developing countries: to encourage
active participation of local ISGyP members.
IGCS website Interactive Tumor Board (every 3 months). Supervision of the
pathology contents.
The “Pathology Corner” at the Int J Gynecol Cancer. Review of controversial
topics.
To be involved in the new FIGO classification of tumors.
Active participation of an IGCS member at the ISGyP annual companion meeting,
if appropriate.
IGCS is involved in all ISGyP activities related to clinical activities and translational
research
 ISGYP International Meetings will have an IGCS non-pathologist member in the
scientific committee.
 The Journal of ISGyP will have at least one IGCS non-pathologist member in the
editorial board.
 Multidisciplinary workshops/meetings of ISGyP in developing countries: to
encourage active participation and membership of IGCS.
 ISGYP website : direct link to IGCS website.
 To be involved in the new FIGO classification of tumors.
Proposal:
ISGyP will appoint one non-voting ISGyP representative in the IGCS Council. The
second pathologist will be elected by the IGCS members as currently is done. Similarly,
IGCS will designate one non-voting ISGyP representative in the ISGyP Executive
Committee.
Travel expenses for non-voting representatives will be covered by the Society the person
is representing.

Term of agreement: Three years, subject to revision as needed.
