Dear Friends,
ASHA – Ray of Hope, a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization exists to support and counsel
individuals and families affected by domestic violence in the South Asian community including
the countries of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Through advocacy, collaboration,
and awareness activities, ASHA helps educate the greater community and connects individuals
and families with the resources they need to achieve self-reliance. ASHA’s volunteers and staff
who are culturally competent, licensed counselors assist clients with a variety of needs, including
but not limited to: residency and immigration issues pertaining to child custody, spousal and
child support, mental health counseling, transportation, language and interpretive services,
connection to resources such as housing, medical care, and providing emergency funds. In
addition to assisting clients, ASHA coordinates several awareness events each year, conducting
educational workshops, screening instructive films and bringing speakers to increase awareness
of domestic violence and the impact of such violence on all people with a focus on the unique
issues within the South Asian and immigrant community.
After having completed our 11th year of service to the community we need funds to meet the
needs of growing number of clients and for the following services:




Support for a part time Case Worker
Reimburse clients for transportation, food, rent, health care, legal expenses, emergencies
etc.
Support training of volunteers
Continue outreach activities such as speakers engagement at various cultural sites,
schools and mainstream domestic violence organizations, organizing public awareness
programs, etc.
In an effort to achieve our mission we are raising funds by hosting a cultural dance performance
event by students and professionals from over 10 local schools. These local cultural centers are
known for their training of next generation of performers in classical and contemporary dances
unique to the South Asian region. This cultural performance will be staged at Jeanne B. McCoy
Community Center for the Arts on June 13, 2014. As a sponsor you will have the opportunity

violence issues in our communities.
