Dear CAL Member,
In early July, the Columbia Art League (CAL) will move to its fabulous new gallery space at the
Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts. It will be the highest profile home that CAL has had in its 50
year history: a glorious, high-ceilinged space, with direct visibility from Ninth Street, two classrooms
so we can expand our education programming for children and adults, a larger gallery and direct
access to Columbia’s fabulous new center for the arts.
There is of course no such thing as a free lunch or a free home, and whilst the Missouri Theatre
Center for the Arts has borne the cost of creating the shell of our new home, the cost of fitting it out
to gallery specifications is a cost that CAL must cover.
The great news is that since we started our fundraising drive in August 2007, we have raised over
$101,000 towards those costs. Our design team estimates that the total costs will be around
$150,000. While we’re certainly on the fundraising home-straight, your help can nudge us that little
bit closer and create an extraordinary new art space for our wonderful city of the arts.
As one of CAL’s members I would like to invite you to be part of our new home by making a
donation directly towards our Missouri Theatre Move Fund. Every little bit counts so whether it’s
$10 or $10,000, every cent we raise moves us ever closer to opening a gleaming new art facility for
the artists, art students, art patrons and citizens of Columbia. All our $1000+ donors names will
be commemorated on CAL’s donor wall, and it would be a joy to have your name up there.
As CAL is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, all donations to us are tax deductible so please keep
hold of any receipts I send to you as confirmation of your donation to us.
