POSITION SUMMARY: The TRIO/SSS Program Education/Technology Coordinator is a
full-time, twelve-month position that provides for general support, lab facilitation, and direct
instruction in one or more of the basic skills areas of math, English, or reading. The TRIO/SSS
Program Education/Technology Coordinator will report directly to the TRIO/SSS Program
Director. The person in this position has the following responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Deliver instruction to SSS students using lecture and computer-aided instruction.
2. Keep classroom records.
3. Lecture, conduct demonstrations, and supervise the students in direct basic skills
instruction.
4. Advise SSS students concerning all course work.
5. Individualize instruction for SSS students.
6. Maintain individual progress records on all SSS students.
7. Supervise the scheduling of SSS program participants with tutors.
8. Hold regularly scheduled in-service meetings with tutors.
9. Maintain tutor work records.
10. Assist SSS program students who are having difficulty in developmental classes.
11. Assist SSS students with any alternative instructional needs.
12. Develop individual learning plans for SSS students.
13. Maintain records of SSS students who use the Learning Lab.
14. Hold Study Skills seminars for SSS students.
15. Assists TRIO/SSS Program Advisor in keeping records of early warning/retention
program.
16. Assist the TRIO/SSS Program Director in the completion of formative and summative
evaluation procedures.
17. Other duties as assigned by the TRIO/SSS Program Director.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating computer
technology educational programs and services for SSS program students
2. Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems and office suites.
3. Knowledge of the needs of disadvantaged students.
4. Knowledge of data interpretation used to evaluate instruction/academic support programs
and student academic progress.
5. Knowledge of various learning styles and instructional modalities.
6. Knowledge of methods to assist students with disabilities.
7. Knowledge of multi-media instructional technology.
8. Ability to plan, coordinate, implement, evaluate and refine technology education programs
for low-income, first generation, and disabled students.
9. Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
10. Ability to organize computer, study, and life skills workshops for participants.
11. Ability to assess the computer technological needs of students.
12. Ability to assess the needs of educationally disadvantaged students in the defined target
service area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates educational programs and activities; coordinates curriculum development and
offerings on a semester basis for participants.
2. Designs the online workshops for each semester.
3. Prepares and coordinates appropriate workshops for academic topics and presentations.
4. Provides continual program evaluation and makes necessary modifications to meet the
needs of the student, grant, and the institutional assessment goals.
5. Revises and updates SSS handbook.
6. Maintains the SSS web presence by updating and monitoring the SSS web pages and SSS
Facebook
7. Along with SSS/Trio Program Advisor, conducts continual assessment of student progress
and needs to modify student’s educational plan, class schedules, or tutoring sessions.
8. As a member of the SSS staff, ensure that the selection process and eligibility requirements
are met as defined by the U.S. Department of Education.
EDUCATION:
A bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred in education, psychology, human development
and family life, social work or other related/relevant areas with experience working with students
from diverse ethnic, economic, cultural and age backgrounds as well as the ability to assess
needs, devise interventions, set goals, conduct thorough follow-up procedures, and plan, and
implement motivational strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or
ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with
disabilities to perform the essential functions. Minimum of three years’ experience in a
community or technical college preferred. Knowledge of federal grant program preferred.
Preference will be given to applicants who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to
those confronting the project’s target population.

COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS:
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications, analytical, interpersonal skills,
attention to details, and deadlines with excellent follow-up skills are needed to be successful in
this position. Ability to read and interpret budget and financial documents, manuals, procedure
reports, and/or ability required. Experience in a unionized setting is preferred.
REASONING ABILITIES:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where standards are required and must be maintained.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid driver’s license.

The employee must occasionally lift and/ or remove up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by this include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
