JOB DESCRIPTION

PART TIME SUPPORT ASSISTANT
Salary Range:
£14,979 - £15,948 pa pro rata

Job Purpose
To assist the team of Support Workers to provide individualised and group support to
Chapter 1 clients, enabling them to maintain their tenancies and achieve their aspirations for
independent living.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Delivery
1. Assist with providing high quality comprehensive needs and risk assessments
for allocated clients within policy guidelines and under the direction of the
Support Co-ordinator and Support Workers as required.
2. Assist with developing support plans as required.
3. Assist with ensuring every client has access to high quality one to one support
in accordance with the aims and objectives of the service which is proactive and
helps the client to understand and overcome any barriers they have to moving
forward
4. To assist, encourage and support clients to participate in activities as
appropriate.
5. To assist and support as directed to address issues of rent arrears, isolation and
exclusion whilst facilitating clients’ involvement in accordance with the aims of
the service.
6. To assist and support the team members to ensure that all relevant agencies
are involved in the support plan process to avoid duplication of support offered.
7. To assist and support the team in ensuring clients’ files are maintained in
accordance with contractual requirements of Supporting People.
8. To assist with the production and maintenance of accurate and useful
information in a range of formats in order to promote effective service delivery
and evaluation.
9. Undertake sleep-ins and on-call duties on a rota basis as part of the full team
providing support to Chapter 1 clients.
10. To work well as part of a small outcome focused team to ensure the overall
needs of the project are met and to contribute to excellent client focused support
is delivered.

Communication
 Ensure any concerns relating to clients’ physical or emotional condition are passed
on to the Support Co-ordinator or responsible person on duty.
 Arrange/participate in staff and clients’ meetings, as and when required.
 Work proactively with all other colleagues to ensure that relevant information is
shared and that joint working is undertaken when this is in the best interests of the
client.
 Actively promote a positive professional profile of the project within the local
community, ensuring the good reputation of the organisation at all times.
Inter-agency Working
 Assist and support as required in developing and maintaining effective working
relationships with specialists and agencies who might offer resources, funding, or
individual services relevant to clients’ needs.
Development
 Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site as and when required.
 Be responsible for maintaining professional knowledge and competence.
 Prepare for and attend supervision with the Support Co-ordinator or designated line
manager bi-monthly.
Health & Safety
 Assist with carrying out health and safety checks in accordance with policies and
procedures, under direction of the Support Co-ordinator or Support Staff.
 Promote safe working practices in and out of the project.
 Support the staff team in ensuring the standard of accommodation and grounds are
of a consistently high level through communication and practical means. This
includes assisting with clearing service user rooms, identifying and reporting repairs
and maintaining equipment to high standard as required.
 Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
General
 Adhere to Chapter 1’s Confidentiality Policy and ensure that all information of a
confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
 Ensure the security of the project is maintained at all times.
 To undertake administrative duties and domestic tasks when required.
 Carry out all other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you and within the
scope of your job role.
Other
 Please note that you will be required to provide support and cover as required across
all services.
 It is a general requirement that all employees of Chapter 1 be in sympathy with and
understand the Christian aims and ethos of the organisation.
 The post holder may be required to work outside of normal working hours on
occasion of which time off in lieu will be given.
