PACK H2O. by Inensiko Adams, coordinator Lejofonds Lejofonds is a non Government Organization fully licensed by the NGO Board Kampala ministry of internal affairs. Lejofonds is fully allowed under the laws of Uganda to carry out its activities in Uganda to help poor communities for now in Mukono district to help the Government full fill its operational flame works as far as development is concerned. Among the activities which Lejofonds has, is to ensure and to promote water and sanitation in the rural areas of Seeta Nazigo and Nkokonjeru respectively. In Uganda collecting water from the water is always very difficult why, The water collection centers like the water springs, WELLS and the bore holes, are in far distances which makes difficult for people especially the Old and the school children to collect water in jerry cans from far long distances because with the use jerry cans to collect water has its negative impacts, as seen below, 1. It is difficult for old people between 50 years and above to put jerry cans on their heads to collect water from far distances. 2. Secondly it causes great negative impact especially with the growth and health of children when using these huge jerry cans of 20 liter on their heads. 3. It is also the task from Lejofonds as an organization to change the behaviors of people from using the jerry cans. With the samples and the introduction of water bags by the Lejofonds we believe will change the behaviors of the community members to adopt new culture of water collection in our respective areas of operations. More so the water bags will ease out water collections especially with even those without bicycles to collect with jerry cans because these water bags are very flexible to the extent that even old people find it easy to collect water. It is upon these remarks that water bags will make a fundamental change not to only our members in the projects but also to the communities at large. We also believe that the water bags will be a fundamental solution for this noble cause. PackH2O by Kibago Daniel, coordinator Lejofonds In Uganda and particularly Seeta Nazigo and Nkokonjeru Mukono district, there is a problem difficulty in accessibility clean water by the people in the way that people have to walk long distances up to 3 kms from their homes to places where they can get water for domestic use. This way they use containers like jerry cans of 20 liters which they carry on their heads, because the distances they walk are long. It become tiresome for them to collect water with their jerry cans. The Lejofonds directors Leo and Herma Annyas, having had such experience of seeing people walk long distances while carrying jerry cans of water thought of a way how they can help. They remembered having seen a water pack on the internet, the so called PackH2O. They seeked for people’s opinion on what if they were availed with water packs that would be easier to carry on their backs without difficulties. The people were positive and they wanted to give it a try. In the middle of this year Leo and Herma Annyas made efforts and sent some water packs for experience. The people who tried the water packs informed the rest that they had never seen an easiest way of carrying water like using the packs. The people were all excited and are at the moment so much interested in using the water packs because it was experienced that with water packs you can carry water with ease at the back. Even those in old age can carry water with the water pack unlike the jerry cans.
