What is the goal?
Create a poetry dictionary.
What materials do I need?
Group of 2 or 3 students
Poetry vocabulary sheet
Poems with examples in them
Notebook paper
Glue
Directions:
□ 1. Find a group of 2 or 3 students in your reading group to work with.
□ 2. Use the poetry vocabulary sheet to create a poetry dictionary.
□ 3. Each word should have its own page. Each page needs to include the
vocabulary word, the definition, and an example.
□ 4. Find examples of each vocabulary word in the poems that are given
and glue them to the correct page with the matching vocabulary word
and definition.
□ 5. Organize your vocabulary words, definitions, and examples in
alphabetical order, just like a dictionary.
□ 6. Your dictionary should have a cover.
□ 7. Use your best handwriting, spelling, and grammar to make it look as
much like a real dictionary as possible.
How will I be graded?
You will be graded on how well your examples match your vocabulary
words and definitions. You will also be graded on your neatness, spelling,
grammar, and effort.
