Important School Policies to Follow
DRESS CODE
The dress code will be checked after the morning pledge and announcements. Students will be given the opportunity
to correct any violations at this time. After this initial check, students will not receive any other warnings--- they will
automatically receive a dress code referral for any violation. All students are reminded by Mr. Doss everyday of the
dress code during first hour. Students are to be checked by their first hour teacher. If I am not your first hour teacher,
please do not assume what you have on is according to dress code. I follow the policy that is stated in the handbook.
Student Passes
Students should use their passing periods wisely. Passes will not be issued unless it is an emergency. Students out of
the classroom are not engaged in learning. If you have a health problem, please make sure that a doctor’s note is on
file in the office.
Food and Drink
I only allow closed containers of water in my classroom. DO NOT BRING IN FOOD OR ANY OTHER DRINK.
You will be asked to throw it away and you will receive a detention/referral. If you make a mess or continually leave
trash or bottles in my room, you may be banned from having anything.
Materials
Students MUST bring their materials (books, paper, binders, folders, writing utensils, etc.) to class EVERYDAY. If a
student does not bring their book to my class they will receive a detention. I do not have pens/ pencils/ paper for sale.
They either must borrow from a classmate or receive a detention to borrow it from me. After 3 classroom detentions
for this violation a referral will be issued.
Cell Phones/ Headphones
All cell phones and headphones must be put away before entering your first class. They must be kept out of sight
during school hours (8:24- 3:30). If it is visible and the student is using the device in anyway, students will be asked
to leave class and the policy will follow the school discipline code. Students who refuse to comply will receive a
second referral and be sent to the office. CELL PHONES NEED TO BE KEPT IN POCKETS OR PURSES. YOU
WILL NOT HAVE IT SITTING ON YOUR DESK OR LAP DURING CLASS.
Electronic Devices
Electronic devices should remain concealed and put away in my classroom. Such devices may only be used before
school, at lunch and after school in designated areas and for appropriate purposes and in a non-disruptive, harmless,
and inoffensive manner. LHS is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen devices.
Consequences
 1st violation—Student will be sent to office.
 2nd violation—Student will be sent to office.
 Each additional violation- Through the office, item is confiscated, student receives consequences ranging from
detention to suspension, and parents will be notified and must meet with administration to pick up the item.
 If it is determined that the devices were being used in any unlawful activity law enforcement will be involved.
The student will be suspended with a possible recommendation to the Board of Education for alternative
placement.
