Constitution

Article I: Name, Purpose and Non-Discrimination Policy

Section 1: Name

-Joshua House Small Groups at The Ohio State University

Section 2: Purpose and Objectives

Our vision is to be a missional community of young adults that have local and global impact through our love and service to Jesus. We want to be a people driven by our desire to bring the love of Jesus to others; Joshua

House is a gathering place and a sending place. Therefore, we emphasize coming together in community around Jesus Christ as well as reaching out to the world around us. We are committed to following Jesus practically by serving each other, by being a blessing to the community around us, and by being involved in different areas of social justice.

Section 3: Non-Discrimination Policy

Joshua House Small Groups will never discriminate against any individuals for any reason. And these reasons may include but are not limited to age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

Article II: Membership

Section 1: Members

The voting members of the Joshua House Small Groups are only those who are currently enrolled students at

The Ohio State University. All members have the right to vote in elections and amending processes, but are not required to do so.

Article III: Organization of Leadership

Section 1: President

-The President of the Joshua House Small Groups must be a currently enrolled student at the

Ohio State University, and able to fulfill all the duties of the office of President. As such, the

President must represent The Vineyard Student Fellowship as well as The Ohio State

University with dignity.

-The President’s term: one school year. There are no limits to how many terms the President can hold as long as the run and are elected each school year.

-The President must be elected by a majority of the Membership as defined in Article II Section

1.

-Each school year elections will be held to determine the office of the President.

-The President is primarily responsible for running the administrative side of the Joshua House

Small Groups.

-The President also has a responsibility to care for the concerns of the Membership body. This

“care” can be defined by the President and the Executive Board (The Joshua House OSU

Planning Team) as seen fit.

Section 2: The Treasurer

-The Treasurer must be a currently enrolled student at The Ohio State University, and able to fulfill all the duties placed on them by the President and the Membership.

-The Treasurer must be selected by the President out of the Membership body.

-The Treasurer can serve for one school year.

-The Treasurer’s main duties are to handle all finances of The Vineyard Student Fellowship.

-If at anytime the President sees fit he or she can remove the Treasurer from their post.

Article IV: Method of Removing Officers and Members

Section 1: Removing The President

-If at anytime the President fail to represent the organization well, represent the University well, or fulfill his or her duties then they can be removed by a majority vote of the Membership.

-The Membership is the key decider of whether or not The President is doing such things listed above. If at anytime a Member believes the President has failed (as described above) they are permitted to call for a quorum of the Membership to vote on the removal of The President.

Section 2: Removing Other Officers

-The Treasurer can only be removed by the President. While the Membership can raise suggestions freely to the President, the Membership does not have the power to remove either of these Officers from office.

Section 3: Removing Members

Members can only be removed by other Members for acts of either criminal nature or if they have some way harmed someone else. Being a community that is built on Jesus means that we give grace and mercy to our

Members at all times. We will always do this, but if a Member has done something to harm someone or done something criminal the Membership can vote to remove Member in question.

Article V: Advisors

Section 1: Responsibilities

-The Vineyard Student Fellowship will choose an advisor from the Ohio State faculty. The pastor of Joshua House will advise the Vineyard Student Fellowship all areas related to the organization. The faculty advisor’s responsibilities university recognition and attending the training sessions when organization “Active.” include giving us required to keep the in

Article VI: Meetings of the Organization

Section 1: Designated Meetings of The Vineyard Student Fellowship

-Joshua House Small Groups will meet an intermittent 3 times throughout the year to gather for fellowship as well as to discuss any issue brought up by the Members.

-Any Member can call for a vote on removal of a member or President at these meetings.

-Members are also permitted to call for a vote on in rule in the constitution. If they wish to amend something they must have a majority vote.

Article VII: Method of Dissolution

Section 1: Dissolution

-If the Joshua House Small Groups should need to dissolve for any reason we will clearly make it known to the Ohio State University as well as the Membership.

-If there are any existing assets and debts the treasurer and the President will make sure to make these are made right with The University.
