Sentences and Sentence Fragments
Sentence: a word group that contains a subject and a verb that expresses a complete
thought
Fragment: A sentence that is either:
a) not a complete thought
b) does not have a subject or verb
Fragment examples

2) The soldier listening carefully to the movements of the enemy with his advanced
technology
3) Listening to the gentle patter of rainfall falling upon my roof top.
Full sentence
1) Last summer on my vacation, I went to Arizona
2) The soldier, listening carefully to the movements of the enemy with his advanced
technology, reported his findings to his command.
3) I fell asleep listening to the gentle patter of rainfall falling upon my roof top.
