Channel; excavating and segregating weathered and unweathered overburden materials including
sandstone and heated materials; coal removal and sale; installing quenching pools within the excavation
area using clay material recovered from Temporary Surface Seal removal; using firefighting foam or
water spray to cool working faces and excavated material, as needed; cooling “warm” (>90°F to
<150°F) overburden materials by spreading or diluting; cooling “hot” (>150°F) overburden materials
by immersing in quenching pools; installing fire barrier with clay material excavated from Borrow Area
1 along eastern sidewall; installing Sidewall Interceptor Drain using sandstone rubble; initial backfilling
with unweathered material and sandstone rubble; final backfilling with weathered material
