SALMONELLA TESTS AND CHEST X-RAY ACCORDING TO THE LAW ON INFECTIOUS DISEASE 1. Make an appointment for a health check if you are going to hospital training in a maternity ward/children’s ward or to take care of preschool children (day care centres, prenatal and child health clinics, mentally disabled children): The health check will help to determine: Students travelling outside the Nordic countries during the last 3 months Students who have suffered from diarrhoea; students or their families within the last month Students who have had contact with tuberculosis Students who suffer from long term cough Students who suffer from any other infectious disease 2. Contact your student health care nurse before going to training in a pulmonary diseases department: Chest x-ray will be taken if a student has been in contact with tuberculosis, has had a cough for weeks or any other reason for chest x-ray. The nurse will decide based on the interview if salmonella test and / or chest xray is necessary.
