The meeting will introduce delegates to the practical considerations of devising, delivering
and evaluating capital projects, inviting colleagues from around the region to share their
experiences and tips on how to avoid typical pitfalls.

On 12 October 2012, 'Birmingham: its people, its history' opens at
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Henrietta, who has been working on

opportunities that the project has presented. Liaison with contractors,
consultation, community engagement, narrative and interpretation, object
selection and conservation have all provided both moments of exhilaration
and times of stress, and the project has been delivered against a background
of constant organisational change.

Movie Magic: Interpreting the Restoration of an Art Deco Cinema
Sarah Fellows – Regal Heritage Access Officer
The Regal Cinema in Tenbury Wells was closed for a year whilst the
Heritage Lottery Funded restoration work went on behind closed doors to
restore its art deco glory. Despite its prominent position in the town both
geographically and in the hearts of the local people, keeping the community
engaged and interested in the project during this time presented some
interesting challenges. Regal Heritage Access Officer Sarah Fellows talks
about some of the events and projects she has delivered over the last ten
months to create and maintain that connection with the inaccessible building,
from behind the scenes tours and social media presence to the final reopening event in July this year.
