Nine Hawks, Coach Earn OEC Honors in Women’s Soccer
Orange, CA—The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) women’s soccer team placed nine players
on the all-Orange Empire Conference (OEC) teams highlighted by Kim Horn (Capistrano Valley
HS) who was named the MVP for the second consecutive season.
Horn was one of five Hawks to land on the OEC first team, along with Andrea Acierno
(Capistrano Valley HS), Lindsey Crancer (Norco HS), Rachel Housepian (El Toro HS) and
Brandi Johannsen (Capistrano Valley HS). Teammates Whitney Bailey (Fountain Valley HS),
Tayler Giacomaro (Newport Harbor HS), Georgia Koromelas (Canyon HS) and Jenna
Scarborough (Northwood HS) were all named to the OEC second team.
Horn, who was recently named to the 2005 National Soccer Coaches Association of
America (NSCAA)/adidas Junior College All-America team, finished the 2005 season with 25
goals and 13 assists. She will finish her career at SCC as the school’s all-time leader in goals
scored (53) and assists (30). Horn was also named MVP of the OEC in 2004 and is the only SCC
athlete ever named to an All-America team.
SCC head coach Ian Woodhead was named OEC Co-Coach of the Year after leading the
Hawks to a 22-1-2 overall record and their first outright OEC title in school history. Woodhead
was also named OEC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2004. The Hawks finished the season
ranked No. 8 in the nation according to the NSCAA.
