Brief description on participant’s Organization Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF) is а NGO which almost 15 years has been working to conserve biodiversity in Bulgaria and neighboring countries, supports the participation of citizens and local communities in managing natural resources and protected areas and raises public awareness on the issues of biodiversity and nature protection. BBF has a Central office in Sofia and four branches – Strandja in Bourgas, Belasitsa in Blagoevgrad, Eastern Rhodopes in Haskovo and Kaliakra in Bulgarevo (Kavarna). BBF is a member of IUCN, CEEweb, Bulgarian Donor’s Forum, the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism and ForTheNature in Bulgaria Coaltition. BBF is successor of the Bulgarian-Swiss Biodiversity Conservation Programme, implemented in the period 19942004. During the years BBF has a wide range of different International partners such as Norway, FYR Macedonia, Greece, Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, Romania and etc. 2. Sector of activities of participant’s Organization BBF works in five main areas: Protected Areas and Species, Green Belt and Natura 2000, Educational and PR activities, Sustainable Tourism, Campaigns and Coalitions. Among our successes are designation of the Nature Park "Belasitza" and development of its Management Plan, declared 14 protected areas, developed a Management Plan of the Pirin National Park, and of the pending Management plan of Strandja Nature Park, actualization of Central Balkan national Park Management plan, the Bulgarian Action plan for the chamois, National plan for the conservation of the most important wetlands in Bulgaria and etc. BBF is developing Action plan for Capercaillie, Three-toed Woodpecker and White-backed Woodpecker. We are a coordinator of International initiative "Green Belt" in Bulgaria. BBF prepared the announcement of the first new biosphere park in Bulgaria – Strandja and etc. BBF works to restore prority habitata coastal lagoon in Atanasovsko lake. 3.
