GORDON COOPER TECHNOLOGY CENTER JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Curriculum Department: Full Time Programs Supervisor: Superintendent/CEO Personnel Classification: Certified Administrator Job Summary: Performs administrative duties under minimal supervision to oversee and implement the school district’s discipline policy, supervises full-time instructional program’s curriculum development, and serves as liaison between partner schools and parents. Regular attendance is expected. Essential Processes: 1. Supervises implementation of district’s curriculum goals by assisting teachers in establishing meaningful classroom objectives related to educational enhancement. 2. Works with Director of Instruction to assist instructors in development, implementation and evaluation of competency based instructional materials and methods to be used in instructional programs. 3. Conducts short and long range curriculum planning, anticipates business and industry needs due to changes in growth, demographics, revenue and technological environments. 4. Develops and implements campus-wide classroom management tools that will assist teachers in providing a classroom atmosphere conducive to maximum learning by implementing district’s discipline policy. 5. Implements constructive student discipline to reinforce desired outcomes. 6. Serves as the Transportation Director, being responsible for daily routes and field trips. 7. Works closely with campus security to monitor break areas and provide an environment where students assume responsibility for their own behavior regarding school property. 8. Works closely with the Coordinator of Student Services to administer attendance policies. 9. Serves as liaison to partner schools by informing them of school’s discipline and attendance policies and by organizing a yearly meeting with all partner school principals. 10. Develop and implement a strong communications effort to encourage parents to get involved in corrective counseling/discipline with troubled students. 11. Prepare and submit reports and other documents as required to the Board of Education and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. 1 of 4 Essential Processes Continued: 12. Attend all regular and special meetings of the Board of Education. 13. Participate in administrative staff meetings and other school functions as required. 14. Work with Superintendent and Principal to interpret laws, regulations, statutes, rules and policies affecting the district and assist in upholding and enforcing the policies and procedures of the Board of Education. 15. Assists in defining short range and long range educational needs, establishing district goals and objectives and formulating policies and plans for recommendation to the Superintendent. 16. Assists in identifying, preparing, evaluating and disseminating pertinent research to the Superintendent. 17. Supervises the planning and implementation of the staff development plan and in-service training for instructors and instructional support staff. 18. Develops and implements an instructional audit system for assessing the status of instructional programs and instructional support services for evaluation and planning purposes. 19. Develops and maintains a system to effectively utilize program advisory committees. 20. Coordinate CTSO with the instructional faculty. 21. Assists in the preparation and administration of the budget. 22. Responsible for the administration of the budget in full-time instructional programs curriculum. 23. Establishes and maintains efficient procedures and effective controls for expenditure of school funds in accordance with adopted budget and the School Code. 24. Monitors the purchase of instructional supplies and equipment for all full-time, instructional programs, special programs, and curriculum and media development. 25. Assists in the recruitment and employment of personnel in all areas related to instructional programs and instructional support areas, working cooperatively with the Superintendent and department directors. 26. Coordinates the development and implementation of procedures for evaluation of instructors to insure compliance with state and federal law and board policies and procedures. 27. Conducts an annual evaluation of all personnel directly under his/her supervision in accordance with the personnel policies and procedures of the district. 2 of 4 Essential Processes Continued: 28. Assists with human resource responsibilities by providing information, putting interview committees together and keeping staff informed of changing legislation. 29. Participates in an annual evaluation of his/her own performance with the assigned administrator. 30. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other duties and exercises as may be conferred upon by law or as required by the Superintendent. Other Processes: 1. Encourages teachers to maintain effective communications with parents. 2. Works with co-workers, subordinates, administrators and community leaders to share information, resources and expertise to accomplish school’s mission statement. 3. Provides clear and concise information to faculty and students on disciplinary procedures and listens and responds to ideas of faculty for curriculum enhancement. 4. Facilitates development and changes to LPN, Aviation and GCTC Student Handbooks. 5. Works with the director of Instruction in dealing with student referrals. 6. Approves of disapproves On-The-Job training recommendations by instructor and has each student go through an OJT interview. 7. Maintain professional competence through participation in professional and civic activities. 8. Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the staff and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. 9. Assists the Superintendent in maintaining, both within and outside of the school, a program of public relations as may serve to promote understanding and maintain morale within the school and keep the public informed as to the activities, needs, and successes of the school. 10. Assists the Superintendent in working with members of the Sate Legislative Delegation. Education: School Superintendent Certification required. Secondary Principal Certification required. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Education Administration or related field required. Technology Center Administrator Credential required. 3 of 4 Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in classroom teaching, administration and/or supervision required. Experience with curriculum development and vocational competency based instructional materials and methods preferred. Experience in administrating effective student discipline procedures. Knowledgeable of Oklahoma School Law. Physical & Mental Requirements: Must be mobile to move to various areas located on campus. Moderate lifting required. Must be able to communicate effectively with faculty, students, parents and community leaders in carrying out daily tasks required. Must be able to maintain calm and logical behavior when under pressure and in stressful situations. Working Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environments.
