*** News *** With a view to promote the pursuit of excellence in the field of engineering, Institution of Engineers (India) IEI has instituted ‘IEI Young Engineers Award’. The award was given to only three engineers from all over India for the year 2014. Dr. Vinayak Bairagi working as Associate Professor in Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering of AISSMS’s Institute of Information Technology Pune, is one of them who received IEI Young Engineers Award this year. The award is received, during Thirtieth National Convention organized by Institution of Engineers India at Kochi on 31st Oct 2014. The Convention was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Vice Admiral SPS Cheema, Southern Naval Command. The Institution of Engineers (India) established in 1920 having granted as “Royal Charter” by King George V of England in 1935, is now a unique professional body encompassing 15 engineering disciplines and with an overall membership of over 0.6 million all over world. The Award consists of Rs10,000/- and a Certificate. The purpose of the Award is to recognize outstanding achievements/contributions made by young engineers in engineering research, excellence in engineering technology development, technology transfer, etc. Any engineer citizen of India not older than 35 years is eligible for the Award. Dr Vinayak Bairagi was motivated and supported by Shri Malojiraje Chhatrapati, Secretary, Shri Ratnakar K. Jitkar, Joint Secretary, Shri Ajay Patil, Treasurer of All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society and Principal Dr. P. B. Mane.
