Sundays at Landmark Family Program Series
Kicks Off its 19th Year of Family Fun
Saint Paul, MN - St. Paul's historic Landmark Center proudly announces its Sundays at Landmark
schedule for the 2010-2011 season. This year's series offers a menu of programming designed to
entertain, educate and enrich audiences of all ages. Admission is free or low-cost. The season begins
on Sunday, September 19th when Landmark Center invites the public to enjoy the 4th annual MidAutumn Moon Festival featuring a beautiful lantern parade through Rice Park. The season will conclude
with Saint Paul Civic Symphony’s annual Mother’s Day concert. The complete season schedule spans
cultures and the arts and includes performances by the Minnesota Boychoir, The Rose Ensemble and
The St. Paul City Ballet. One of the season's biggest highlights includes the 7th season of the Urban
Expedition series featuring Chile, Nepal, Egypt, Somalia and the Czech Republic/Slovakia. No Passport?

SEPTEMBER
September 19th – Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, 4pm
Highlights of the most popular Asian family holiday include cultural lantern dances, traditional holiday
displays and storytelling. Children and families will have the opportunity to participate in a lantern making
contest, play twilight games, enjoy a taste of moon cake, and join in the lantern parade through Rice
Park. Co-sponsored by: Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, Vietnamese Community of Minnesota,
Circle of Giving and the Catalyst Foundation.
OCTOBER
October 17th - Skylark Opera Delights of Early Broadway
Wonder as the beautiful soundings of Skylark Opera resonate through historic Landmark Center’s Musser
Cortile, featuring a musical and theatrical tribute to Jerome Kern and Rudolf Friml.
October 24th - St. Paul Civic Symphony’s Fall Concert Nations United in Music
The Saint Paul Civic Symphony presents their annual fall concert celebrating the musical and creative
connections between nations.
October 31st - The Great Pumpkin Festival
Among Landmark Center’s most popular family-friendly programs, the Great Pumpkin Festival delivers all
things Halloween, including storytelling, music, art projects, a costume parade and more! Dress up and
join in the fun, free of charge!
NOVEMBER
November 7th - Saint Martin’s Day Celebration, 4pm
Co-presented by The Germanic American Institute
Rice Park is transformed into a flickering early winter wonderland during this celebration of German
traditions and treats. Celebrate with the spirit of giving and commemorate the generous spirit of St. Martin
through lantern-making and a parade through Rice Park at dusk, led by St. Martin and his trusty horse.

November 14th - The Schubert Club International Novelty Gamelan
Not your Grandad’s gamelan. New music -- with pop and rock influences -- played on the traditional
bronze instruments from Java.
JANUARY
January 2nd - Minnesota Boychoir
Over 100 talented boys aged 7-18 years old comprise the Boychoir – as they perform their annual Winter
Concert at Landmark Center. Two concert times: 1pm & 3:30pm
January 23rd - Rose Ensemble Voices of Ancient Mediterranean Christians, Jews & Muslims
Centuries of dedication and folklore in the chapels, synagogues and courts of early Italy, Spain and
Portugal produced music with rhythms that reverberated across the Mediterranean. In this program
spanning four centuries of vocal and instrumental music, a diverse collection of Arab-Andalusian dances,
Sephardic laments, Spanish villancicos, Hebrew chants and Galician spiritual cantigas come together in a
fascinating exploration of language, culture and faith from a time that is not so different from our own.
FEBRUARY
February 6th - St. Paul City Ballet (F.K. Weyerhaeuser Auditorium)
Share the wonder of dance with your entire family as Saint Paul City Ballet presents SPCB Kids a special,
performance designed to introduce young audiences to the magic and beauty of ballet. Children will also
have the opportunity to do a ballet warm-up and will be taught a short piece of choreography. There is no
need for any prior dance background, and we welcome all to experience the joy of dancing. Children are
encouraged to wear their favorite dance clothes.
February 13th - Urban Expedition: Nepal
Landmark Center’s increasingly popular globe-trotting tour begins with Nepal! Experience this South
Asian country and all it has to offer without a Passport! Taste Nepalese food, see authentic performances
and make Nepalese crafts!
February 19th and 20th - A Scottish Ramble
Nothing’s cooler than kilts in February! Enjoy bagpipes, dance competitions, shopping, informative
lectures and traditional music as annual favorite, A Scottish Ramble, invades Landmark Center!
February 27th -Skylark Opera Tales of Offenbach!
Wonder as the beautiful soundings of Skylark Opera resonate through historic Landmark Center’s Musser
Cortile, featuring a musical and theatrical tribute Jacques Offenbach.
MARCH
March 6th - Urban Expedition: Chile
Come learn about this fascinating South American country! Get a glimpse into Chile’s culture without
leaving your home! Watch performances, get a taste of Chile and make Chilean crafts.
March 13th - IMDA’s Irish Day of Dance & March 17th - IMDA’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
March 13th; 11am-5pm & March 17th; 10am-5pm $6 adults /$4 kids & seniors
Take in all things Irish at two events you can’t miss at Landmark Center. Featuring regional and local Irish
entertainment, Irish dance, Celtic vendors, Irish cuisine, pipe bands and more! Come enjoy one of St.
Paul’s best traditions! Produced by the Irish Music and Dance Association, hosted by Minnesota
Landmarks.
March 27th - Urban Expedition: Somalia
Ever wonder what it’s like to visit Africa? Come to this Urban Expedition to get a glimpse of this African
country! Learn about Somalia by watching performances and making crafts.
APRIL
April 10th - Urban Expedition: Egypt
Ever wonder what it’s like to walk with an Egyptian? Come to this Urban Expedition to find out! Take part
in learning about the culture of Egypt with performances, crafts and food!
April 17th - Urban Expedition: Czech Republic/Slovakia
Learn about two countries in one place without hopping on a plane! Come to Landmark Center to see
performances, make crafts, and taste the food of Czech Republic and Slovakia!
MAY
May 8th - St. Paul Civic Symphony Mother Nature and the great Cycle of Life
The always popular Mother’s Day Concert at Landmark Center is a “must see” in our spring line-up with
music highlighting nature and rebirth.

5th Street, facing Rice Park, next to the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and The Saint Paul Hotel.
