PRESS RELEASE
Lund, April 8, 2005
Axis expands market-leading video server offering
Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, announced today that the
company has expanded its video server offering with three products. The AXIS 241SA Video Server
and the AXIS 241QA Video Server provide two-way audio and high quality video over IP networks.
The AXIS 240Q Video Server is a cost-efficient product available in standalone or blade versions.
The AXIS 241SA and AXIS 241QA are the first video servers to offer de-interlacing video, which
improves image quality in the highest resolution (4CIF). This feature eliminates the motion blur problems
caused by the analog video signal.
“The expanded video server offering provides our customers with more and better options for integrating
existing analog CCTV systems into a network video system,” said Johan Lembre, Vice President, Product
Management, at Axis Communications. “The new products, with their improved functionalities, support
Axis’ ongoing efforts, as the market leader, to be a major driving force behind the convergence of security
and IT.”
The AXIS 241SA and AXIS 241QA offer high quality video at 30/25 (NTSC/PAL) frames per second
across each video channel, one audio stream in each direction, and simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG4 video streams. They also offer video motion detection and support for pan/tilt/zoom cameras. The AXIS
241SA handles a single analog camera, while the AXIS 241QA accommodates up to four analog cameras.
Equipped with a complete set of security features, including multiple user access levels, HTTPS encryption
and IP address filtering, both products are designed for demanding surveillance and remote monitoring
applications.
The AXIS 240Q digitizes video from up to four analog cameras and provides high quality video at up to 6/5
(NTSC/PAL) frames a second per channel. It provides multiple resolutions and compression levels, and
includes security features such as IP address filtering and HTTPS support. All three products have built-in
video motion detection and powerful event management capabilities.
The new video server offerings will be available through Axis’ distribution channels in the second quarter.
