Assignment 1: Measurement of basic electrical quantities.
Compute the current I1 through the circuit in Fig. 1 (use Ohm’s Law: V = IR).
Also, compute the power delivered by the source (P = VI).
Figure 1.
Calculated Values:
I1 = V/R = _____________
P1 = V x I = ______________
Build the circuit using Electronics Workbench and measure the current. Connect
the Ammeter in series (as shown in the circuit diagram in Fig. 2).

Record the measurement from the meter.
I2 = _____________
Is I2 the same as I1?
Now measure the voltage across the resistor R1. Connect the Voltmeter across
the resistor R1 (as shown in the circuit diagram in Fig. 3).
Figure 3.
Measured voltage:
V2 = ______________
Now measure the power delivered by the source using a Wattmeter. Note that
Wattmeter has two sets of terminals. The voltage terminal is connected across
the device and the current terminal is connected in series with the device (see
the circuit diagram in Figure 4).
Measured power:
P2 = ______________
Is P2 the same as P1?
