They then use this data for fraudulent purposes. If you receive such a call please check independently with you broadband supplier to ascertain the authenticity of the claims being made. HORSE SECURITY In recent weeks we have received several reports of horses in fields being apparently ‘marked’. One such marking involved the cutting of part of a horse’s mane from 8 inches to 2 inches in length. It is unknown the purpose of these marking events but such activity in the past has been associated with the subsequent theft of the horse. No horse thefts have occurred in relation to these recent marking events. Horse owners are asked to be vigilant and report any such marking activities or persons seen acting NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED suspiciously at fields where horses are kept. DRIVEWAY REPAIRS Within the last week there have been 2 incidents whereby persons have attended at remote addresses in the Burrelton area, occupied by very elderly persons and offered to re-tar driveways. An initial low price and small area has been agreed but subsequently more work than agreed has been carried out. Pressure has then been put on the elderly person to pay several thousands of pounds for the very poor standard of work carried out on the much larger area. We are extremely keen to trace these individuals. If you are aware of anyone who has agreed to have similar type work carried out or you see anyone carrying out such work, please contact Tayside Police. Tayside Police can be contacted on 0300 111 2222 Recent crimes/issues There has in recent weeks been a spate of minor thefts from gardens within Coupar Angus. The value of these thefts has been so low that those affected by them have not wished to report them to the police. A small project team ‘Transforming Tayside’ has been formed to establish the best way that the Force can balance the financial demands with the needs of our communities and remodel Tayside Police to become a leaner and more streamlined organisation. The Force will work as hard as possible to ensure that front line policing is maintained in a way that is expected by local communities and that we continue to work closely with partner agencies in an effort to coordinate our approach. It is, however, important to highlight that a great deal of important work is carried out by the police service that is not as NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED obvious to the public but is essential in supporting safer communities throughout the Tayside Area. It would be wrong to report that this will be an easy time for Tayside Police but there is a genuine and focused commitment to provide the professional service our communities have grown to expect. The reality is that there will be changes and as a service we will need to trim back on non essential roles which have evolved into a police function over decades of policing. Ultimately if you need a police officer for policing reasons there will be one there for you, however, we will have to concentrate and refocus on exactly what a police service needs to provide. In support of the work being carried out by the Transforming Tayside Team, Tayside Police welcomes suggestions or comments from the public that could help shape the future of our force. We welcome any contributions which can be submitted via the Tayside Police website under the section 'About Us' T in the Park This year T in the Park Festival celebrates its 15th successful year at Balado and promises to be yet another fantastic spectacle with the appearance of many top artists. The event continues to grow in size and the campsite will open on Thursday 7 th July when it is anticipated that some 25,000 people will attend. Once the event commences, numbers in the campsite will increase to 70,000 people per day with the arena capacity at 85,000. Event running from Thursday 7th July 2011- Monday 11th July 2011.
