NATIONAL SEMINAR ON CONSERVATION OF EASTERN GHATS
December 28 & 29, 2007
at Chennai.
The ENVIS Centre on Eastern Ghats at Environment Protection, Training and Research
Institute [EPTRI], Hyderabad is holding a National Seminar on Conservation of Eastern
Ghats in December 2007 along with the C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre
[CPREEC], Chennai; the Forest and Ecology Division, National Remote Sensing Agency
[NRSA], Hyderabad and others. The event shall be held at Chennai as it is one of the
three main states besides Orissa and Andhra Pradesh that house the Eastern Ghats.
Tamil Nadu has always been conscious of environmental concerns pertinent to the State
in general and the need for specific efforts to conserve the Eastern Ghats.
The Seminar would deal with the biological, physical and socio-economic aspects of the
Eastern Ghats including an overview on programmes & policies and information systems
relevant to the area endowed with a large variety of biological species, geological
formulations and indigenous populations.
Scholars from various disciplines would present Papers in the Seminar and it is
earnestly hoped that the scientific community as well as the Government would benefit
by the data and analysis provided in the papers.
Submission of Abstracts & Papers:

Socio-Economic Environment
Programmes and Policies
Information Network
The abstracts & papers have to be sent in ‘MS Word’ format with supporting
photographs in ‘jpg / bmp’ by email to baquer@eptri.com or by post in a CD.
