Anti-Litter Policy
Methodist J, I&N School seeks to be a litter free area where pupils, staff
and visitors respect the school buildings and surrounding areas. We strive
to teach respect both for the environment and for the possessions of others
through the curriculum and through the Christian values of our school.
Rights of our school community
The pupils of our school have the right to learn in a clean and healthy environment.
It is our goal to create a litter free environment for our pupils.
We should recycle waste wherever possible.
We should see these aims as applying beyond the school gate, to the area around the
school.
All members of the school have the right to suggest ways to improve the school
environment.
Occasionally we do have litter blowing into our school grounds and therefore the
collective responsibilities are listed below:
Responsibilities
All members of the school community have a responsibility:
*
not to drop litter.
*
to use recycling bins whenever possible.
*
to assist the Caretaker in maintaining a clean site.
Staff have a collective responsibility:
*
to support pupils and help them deal with litter problems.
*
to use the recycling bins for all paper and cardboard.
*
to educate pupils on the consequences of dropping litter.
The Eco Council has a responsibility:
*
to provide an adequate number of waste bins, recycling bins, compost bins.
*
to listen and respond to questions from the members of the community.
*
to ensure that anti-litter education is part of the school curriculum.
*
to provide a litter free environment by collecting litter when necessary.
*
to report any litter issues to a member of staff.
