Its environment, landscape, culture and biodiversity are impressive. However, these resources have not been adequately used for the livelihoods and development of the country. The country remained economically poor. There is a dire need for sustainable use of the biological resources of Nepal to uplift the economic level of the citizen and the country, as well as to maintain biodiversity. Nepal is rich in biological resources and particularly well known for medicinal and aromatic plants but these resources need sustainable management. Population growth is another important factor, which is linked with various environmental issues, including sustainable use of biological resources. Therefore, organizers of the seminar have resolved to organize a national seminar on Sustainable Use of Biological Resources. Medicinal plants have been in use traditionally for times immemorial and have been serving the mankind. For sustainable use of these resources documentation of indigenous knowledge and scientific tests are needed. Hence a special session will be organized to address the medicinal and aromatic plant resources of Nepal.
