ORCHARDLEIGH GOLF CLUB COMPETITION ELIGIBILITY RULES Issue 1 dated March 2015 Board & Trophy Competitions 1. Entrants must be SGL Members who pay their annual subscription directly to Orchardleigh Golf Club. Members who pay a discounted subscription fee must have a Home Handicap at Orchardleigh. 5 Day Members are eligible to enter these competitions however they will be required to pay the additional green fee applicable if the competition is on a weekend. 2. Entrants must have an active handicap and: a. For Men’s Section competitions they must have returned 3 qualifying competition scores at Orchardleigh in the previous 12 months prior to the competition. No returns are not accepted as a qualifying competition score. b. For Seniors Section competitions they must have returned 3 qualifying competition scores at Orchardleigh in the previous 12 months prior to the competition. No returns are not accepted as a qualifying competition score. c. For Ladies competitions they must have returned 3 qualifying competition scores in the previous 12 months prior to the competition. These cards may have been completed on any recognized UK course in a recognized competition, but the results must be officially notified to Orchardleigh. No returns are not accepted as a qualifying competition score 3. New members transferring from another club and bringing their handicap with them must have played 3 qualifying rounds in the previous 12 months. 4. Each competition will have it’s own Specific format and eligibility rules specified by the Handicap Committee or Section Competition Secretary. See Annex A. Knock-out Competitions 1. All competitors must have signed the entry sheet and paid the appropriate entry fee prior to the draw. 2. The Competition Secretary will set a time limit for the completion of each round. 3. The first named player/pair are to contact opponent(s) and offer 3 dates appropriate to the competition. One of the dates must be a weekend. If the players cannot agree a playing date within the time specified their disagreement must be reported to the Competition Secretary who will adjudicate. 4. Competition format and handicap rules will be published for each competition. 5. Matchplay competitions will be played to a finish by playing extra holes from the first hole played, on a sudden death basis, with additional strokes taken as indicated on the card. Other Club Competitions 1. All competitions will be organised and arranged by Section Competition Secretaries overseen by the Handicap Committee. Members handicaps will be managed in accordance with CONGU rules using Club 2000 computer system linked to Howdidido.co.uk 2. All players must have an active handicap to play in Club competitions. Junior members with active handicaps of 28 or less may enter competitions provided their cards are marked by a Full Member. Members without handicaps may play in the competitions to gain qualifying cards but will not be eligible to win prizes. Cards should be marked Supplementary or Qualifying 3. Members of Orchardleigh or Long Sutton with active handicaps held at either club will be eligible to play in club competitions as decided by Section Competition Secretaries. The Handicap Committee or Section Competition Secretary will specify the format, eligibility and qualifying rules for each competition. 4. All players must sign in on the Computer system or Start Sheet as appropriate and pay entry fee prior to commencement of play. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the competition. 5. It is the player’s responsibility to ensure their cards are checked and signed. All cards are to be handed in, including Nil Returns. Cards not signed or filled in incorrectly will lead to disqualification. Any alterations must be initialed by the marker. The following information must be entered on a card or it will be disqualified: a. Competition Name & Date b. Players Name c. Handicap d. Gross score for each hole e. Player and Marker signatures 6. In addition all players are expected to input there scores onto the computer system for the competition. Players who omit to do so twice will be suspended from playing in Club Competitions for a specified time as decided by the Handicap Committee. 7. In stroke play and stableford competitions, unless otherwise stated in the rules for a specific competition, ties will be decided according to who has the best last 9 holes. If still ties the last 6 holes, then last 3 and then the last hole. Fractional handicap allowance will be applied when appropriate. 8. Competition prizes will be awarded by the Handicap or Section Competition Secretaries. Authority & Updates 1. The Handicap Committee and Section Competition secretaries will have the authority to implement these rules and will review them annually. 2. Amendments can be made at any time as agreed by the Handicap Committee and Section Competition secretaries.
