 Have the Kadimaniks enjoy Saturday services.
 Get the Kadimaniks involved in a service.
MATERIALS:
 Siddurs
 Basketballs
OVERVIEW:
 Explanation of what’s going to happen (5 minutes).
 Service (30-35 minutes).
 Wrap-up (5-10 minutes).
EXPLANATION:
This service it to make you guys, the Kadimaniks, find an alternate way to enjoy and explore the Saturday
Morning Shacharit service. We are going to be stretching, saying some prayer, having a little fun with the
basketballs on the court, and then joining everyone for the Torah Service. We are going to start just on
the grass with a little bit of stretching and some explanations. We are going to link the prayers to our
activities in an fun and interactive way!
(The service will be read like a script to the Kadimaniks and will be straight forward to the as well).
SERVICE:
How many of y’all yawned and gave a good stretch this morning when you woke up? Just as we stretch to
start the day, we also stretch and warm up in the service, with the psukei Dzimrah, which is basically a
giant warm up session before the service starts. OSo, to start our service, I would like us to spread out a
little, and to help us get ready for the day, were gonna do a little stretching.
<lead stretching>
All warmed up now? Next we are going to do some community building. After we warm up in the service,
we have a few service parts that are all about community: Nishmat, shochen ad, Barchu, and shema.
Before we say these prayers, everyone take a ball and pair up. We are going to do a little team building
exercise. Take the ball, and toss it to your partner. If you drop it, take a step forward. If you catch it, take a
step back. How far apart can you and your partner get?
<say these prayers>
So were gonna move along in the service. Next up is the Ameda, a great time for personal prayer and
meditation. We are going to start together through Kedusha, and then I want each one of you to go and
find a little corner and pray to yourself. It doesn't have to be the words in the siddur; be creative, have
fun, and go somewhere with it that is enjoyable to you.
You can find a good spot on a swing, or on the court here, or at one of these picnic tables. Then, when I
start singing Oseh shalom, we all should come back together to continue with the service.
WRAP-UP:
Now that we have finished Shacharit, we are going to go to.....to meet up with everyone for Torah Service
and Musaf. So, I hope you enjoyed the service, got a bit of a new take on how services can be fun, and
enjoyed yourself.
IF WE HAVE EXTRA TIME:
Because we have extra time, we are going to play a little game called Bunny Bunny.
The object of the game is just to have fun and enjoy yourself. Also, sometimes the USYers play this, so if
they play it one day, you can play along.
I will start, here is how the game works. I am going to make bunny rabbits with both of my hands and say,
“Bunny Bunny” just to the air. Then i will say, “Bunny Bunny” again, but this time pointing at someone.
Now, the person I just pointed at is going to repeat exactly what I did but now pointing at a different
person. Let’s try that for a couple of minutes.
Now that we have had time to practice that, I’ll show you how the rest of the game works. If some says,
“Bunny Bunny” to themselves and then points at you, the 2 people on either side of you have to do
something. The people on either side of you turn and face each other saying, “Tonga Tonga” jumping up at
down, saying it twice, and keeping with your beat. Any questions? Alright, now let’s try that a couple of
times!
