SECTION 1
Is the entire piggery covered to prevent rain from entering the piggery?

Is the roof made of corrugated metal roofing material?
Y/N
Does the piggery pen floor have an adequate amount of carbon bedding? (Lower half
of pig pen is covered with carbon and no strong odors)

Is the interior of the piggery dry?
Y/N
Does the piggery utilize water nipples for the pigs to drink?
Y/N
Does the piggery have hog panels or reinforced chainlink fencing?
Y/N
Look at the uphill side of the piggery. Is water likely to pour into the piggery during
heavy rains? (If you have questions, consult AS-EPA engineer.)

Does the piggery owner have a covered composting area (to protect it from
rainwater)?
* If the answer to any of the above is NO, then the piggery is not compliant.

SECTION 2
Does the piggery owner have a management plan for composting pig waste?
This involves two options:
Option A.
Using a sloped pen floor and a dry litter alley to capture composting pig
waste.

OR
Option B. Manually removing the composting pig waste from the pen floors.

Is the composting material being turned at least once every two weeks.

Is the piggery owner using an appropriate carbon source (woodchips, shredded
coconut husks, dry leaves)?

Is the composting area well ventilated?
* If the any of the answers in Option A or Option B is NO, then the piggery is not compliant.

Take photographs.
Notify AS-EPA engineer of all newly constructed piggeries.
