Our Lady of The Valley Liturgy Committee Meeting March 23, 2006 Our Lady of the Valley Liturgy Committee met on Wednesday, March 22nd. , 2006 at 7:15 PM in the St. Joachim Parish Center with the following members present: Father Pat VanDurme; Bill Loree, Chair; John Bartell, Secretary; Audrey Tilden, Margie Terry, Noreen Mahoney, Connie Shephard, Mary Teresa Purtell, Bev. Gilbert and Ann Conklin. 1. An opening prayer was let by Father Pat. 2. Approval of February 22nd. Meeting Minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve minutes from the February 22nd. Meeting. 3. Reconciliation Services A. Thursday, April 6 – 7 PM – St. Ann Church B. Friday, April 7 – 7:30 PM – Youth Group – St. Ann Church C. Saturday, April 8 – after 4:30 PM Mass – St. Ann Church D. Sunday, April 9 – after 8:30 AM Mass – St. Mary Church 4. Holy Week: A. Holy Thursday, April 13 – 7:00 PM – St. Ann Church B. Good Friday, April 14 – (There will be no cross walk this year!) St. Ann Church – 12 noon – 1:00 PM Good Friday Services with “Stations of the Cross” to follow immediately. St. Mary Church – Time to be determined! C. Easter Vigil, Saturday, April 15 – 8:30 PM - St. Ann Church (Liturgy Format—Exultet, Readings, etc. – to be reviewed) D. Easter Sunday, April 16 – Usual Sunday Mass schedule at both St. Ann and St. Mary Churches. 5. Training Meeting – Lecters, Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, etc. – to be scheduled at future date. Suggested that meeting be taped and put in church library for use on a sign-out basis by those unable to attended ‘live’ session. 6. G.I.F.T. – First Session held at St. Joachim Hall well attended with close to 100 in attendance. Session was taped and will be made available on sign-out basis from St. Ann Church library. Handouts will also be available. We will continue to develop Adult Education Opportunities which may include Lenten or Advent Missions, etc. The Liturgy Committee will be approached for any help needed with these events. 7. Holy Thursday – three people needed to bring up the oils blessed at Chrism Mass. Bev. Gilbert will secure individuals. They will process in at the beginning of Mass. 1 8. July 23rd. Party – Jubilees for Sr. Dolores(50th. ) , Sr. Conleth(60th. ) and Fr. Kanka (50th. ) – A party will be held on July 23rd. following the 10:30 AM Mass at St. Ann Church (Garden Reception) on the Rectory Lawn. Beth Jacobs is in charge and volunteers are needed from the Liturgy Committee. Please contact Beth if you are willing to help. 9. Updates: - Sale of St. Joachim’s Parish Center, Rental of Kinship, Sending extra church materials to Louisiana – According to Fr. Pat, everything is in progress and moving forward. 10. Informational Items – Cross will be covered on high altar, cross walk “cross” will be put on the altar during Holy Week, chairs will be set up in Marian Chapel, Crucifixion Chapel and in the back of the church for Easter Sunday. (Chair setup format will follow Christmas) 11. This will be our last meeting in Canisteo. Meetings will take place at St. Ann School meeting room from now on. (Bill Loree will check on room availability.) 12. Other – Discussion held on Holy Week needs for Eucharistic Ministers during Triduum; Also, need for readers during Easter Vigil Service; Also, Movement of pews in center aisles of church still in question (Much discussion held with regard to different ways to distribute both Holy Communion and Wine) Also, problem with distribution of Ashes at St. Mary Church was discussed. Fr. Pat explained rationale behind NOT distributing Ashes on Sunday following Ash Wednesday. In the future, a time will be determined for distribution of Ashes on Ash Wednesday which would include Liturgy of the Word and Stations of the Cross. Also, Father Pat showed an example of types of publications that might be made available to parishioners. Discussion held. 13.
