How secondments can benefit individuals and institutions Introduction In this session, staff from St George‘s, University of London, will give an account of how secondment opportunities have provided the chance to build new skills and knowledge, develop an understanding of new areas of work and support future career development and mobility 10.30 – 11.00 Secondment abroad – working outside the constraints of existing practice. This session will focus on the challenges and opportunities of establishing a new campus abroad. 11.00 – 11.30 11.30 – 12.00 BREAK and networking Beyond borders – international travel and study, it’s not for administrators? The session will highlight the value of international travel and cultural exchanges for university administrators and provide participants with an insight into the process of planning an international visit, the experience itself and the impact on an individual and department upon return. 12.00 – 12.30 Is small beautiful? Is bigger better? Life at different institutions This session is for anyone who has ever wondered what it’s like to work in a smaller institution and assumed, perhaps, that it wouldn’t suit them. And for those who maybe think about working in a much larger institution, but are not sure about making the leap.
