Narrative Biographical Sketch – Blair Ford, MD Blair Ford is Professor of Neurology at Columbia University, New York. Born in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Ford went to medical school at McGill University, completed residencies in internal medicine (Brown University) and neurology (McGill/Montreal Neurological Institute), and pursued fellowship training in movement disorders at Columbia with Dr. Stanley Fahn before joining the neurology faculty. Dr. Ford is a clinician, researcher and educator. In his clinical work, he is Medical Director of the Center for Movement Disorder Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center, and his main area of research is deep brain stimulation. He has published over a hundred original articles, reviews and chapters. He has serves as ad hoc reviewer for numerous journals, and also a writer/editor for the board exam of the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. Dr. Ford is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and a member of the American Neurological Association. Since 2002, he has been listed on the annual roster of America’s Best Doctors. At Columbia University, Dr. Ford is an award-winning educator who teaches at the medical school and directs the residency training program in neurology. He has served as national director for the Consortium of Neurology Program Directors in the United States. He is frequently invited to give lectures and participate in educational symposia.
