HDVCH and Spectrum Health Healthier Communities offers many types of classes for
families regarding family and children’s health, pregnancy, and parenting classes. For
information and registration go to devoschildrens.org and click “Classes and Events”: Call the
numbers indicated at the website.

Examples of classes on children’s health: Programs for burn survivors and burn prevention; Helen
DeVos Children’s Hospital Camp Compass: Providing Direction for Children and Teens Who are
Grieving; Pre-Surgery Tour Program; weight management program for kids; babysitter training; and
alcohol prevention for students. For information or registration please call the number indicated for
that class/event on the website.
Examples of Prenatal and Preparing for Parenthood programs: childbirth preparation, tours,
infant/child CPR & other emergencies, grandparenting, sibling classes, pointers from pediatricians,
Caesarian birth, expecting more than one baby (twins, triplets & more), gestational diabetes, infant
care, breastfeeding, postpartum, and car seat safety. Call 616-391-5000 to register. Childbirth
classes, tours of the Family Birthplace, and Breastfeeding Support are also offered in Spanish.
The SOUL (Sharing Our Untimely Losses) Support Groups - These meeting are for parents who
experience miscarriage, stillbirth and newborn death. Meetings occur twice a month: Butterworth
Campus-4th Monday of the month 7-8:30 PM, Guild Room and Blodgett Campus-2nd Thursday of
