Prior Minutes
o Reviewed minutes from prior HOA Meeting in Nov 2010. Motion granted to accept as
written

Florida Friendly
o

Reviewed recommendations from Florida Friendly. They recommended that we plant
something in January. Everyone agreed that it was a good idea and the Board will look into
it.
Daycare Construction
o
Talked about the new daycare being developed on Gunn Hwy outside Canterbury. The
Board asked if they could put up a 12’ fence to provide privacy. They refused and told Mr.
McCarty that they were only required to put up an 8’ fence and that was all they were
willing to do.
o
Mr. McCarty also talked to them about the lighting. They don’t believe that the lighting will
be a problem because they are set to the proper angle and won’t reflect back into people’s
homes.

Mr. McCarty and Mr. Williams are looking into a program called “adopt a pond”.

Social Coordinator

o
Salima Garner has agreed to be the social coordinator for the HOA.
o
She will be planning the annual Easter Egg Hunt as well as other events throughout the year.
o
The annual yard sale is being planned for Saturday 2 April. More info to follow
Community Ponds
o
The ponds are looking better.
o
The drain in Pond #2 has collapsed. Sam from Swift Mud quoted the HOA $250 to repair
and $90 for the sand. The Board agreed to hold off on having him perform the work until
Mr McCarty can talk to the representatives in Hillsborough about their responsibility for
fixing the drain.





Front Wall
o
The south wall is in need of repairs.
o
The letters on the north wall are falling off.
o
The Board is looking at options to do the repairs. It is the Board’s intent to discuss options
at the next Board Meeting in March.
Property Damage Insurance Coverage
o
The HOA currently holds insurance with Liberty Mutual for liability
o
Looking for company to provide property damage to cover the Walls and other structures
within the development
ACC
o
Need volunteers for the ACC.
o
Walk arounds done no more than 4 or 5 times/year
Keystone
o
Mike and Warren attend the monthly meetings representing Canterbury HOA.
o
There is an expectation that Gunn Hwy will be expanded.
o
The owners of the agriculture stand on the corner of Van Dyke and Gunn are requesting that
the area be rezoned

o

Salima asked about the vacant lots in front of the development. The lots are not
well cared for and she wanted to know if there was anything that could be done
about it.

The owners of the land asked if they could become part of the Canterbury HOA.
Mike indicated that the bank that owns them continue to be fined and that he calls
regularly complaining. They are part of Canterbury lakes so they would not be able
to participate.
Elections
o

Vacant lots in front of development
Paul and Marilyn Houser as well as Lou McCarty have joined the HOA Board. An executive
session will be held to discuss roles and responsibilities.
