Anime Club:
Advisors: Mr. T. Little
Description: The group gathers to discuss and appreciate anime, a style of animation originating
in Japan, which often features colorful graphics, vibrant characters and action-filled plots with
fantastic or futuristic themes.
Meetings: Monday from 2:30-3:00
Membership: Must attend a weekly meeting to join.
Art Club:
Advisors: Ms. Ferlenda
Description: This group is designed to generate and appreciate art.
Meetings: Decided by advisor. See Ms. Ferlenda.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters:
Advisors: Ms Osvoldik/Ms. Long
Description: BBBS is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-
to-one relationships with mentors that try to have a measurable impact on youth. Activities
include helping with homework, playing games, crafting, going on field trips, and much more.
Meetings: Tuesdays from 2:30-4:00
Membership: Must attend a weekly meeting to join.
Breakdancing Crew:
Advisor: Mr. Austin
Description: The Nottingham Breakdancing Crew meets to practice their moves and
breakdance, often performing at school events.
Meetings: Friday from 2:30 – 3:00 (Gymnasium)

Building Men:
Advisors: Mr. Gower, Ms. Rath, Mr. Smith
Description: The SCSD Nottingham Building Men Program is designed to help the boys learn
the concepts of true manhood, educational success and the importance of men in their lives.
Meetings: Weekly
Membership: Must attend a weekly meeting to join.
Chess Club
Advisor: Mr. Gomez
Description: Students will learn essential skills to play “The Science Game.” We are going to
learn about the greatest chess players and their masterpiece games. The purpose of the chess
club is that while students learn how to build a strategy throughout tactics, creating a deep
thinking habit, students will also build social skills: sharing ideas in a collaborative and
cooperative way. Students will develop skills such as critical thinking, reasoning, focusing,
planning, as well as organization.
Meeting: Fridays 2:30 – 4:00 (room 203)
Membership: Must attend weekly to join.

Community Wide Dialogue:
Advisors: Ms. Steiger
Description: Community Wide Dialogue is the longest-running dialogue program on ending
racism in the United States. Through sustained dialogue, relationships between people of
different ethnic and cultural backgrounds are formed, and a forum for action is created among
people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to meet, work, and learn from one another.
Meetings: See Ms. Steiger

DECA :
Advisors: Mr. Azzolino
Description: DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance,
hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Students often takes
trips for competitions.

Travel/French Club:
Advisors: Ms. Crowell
Description: The Travel club gathers to engage in discussions and activities surrounding foreign
cultures.
Meetings: Monthly in GW5

Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA)
Advisors: Ms. Daige, Ms. Holden
Description: Our Mission is to create a safer school environment for everyone, including
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) students. We want to educate the
school about LGBTQ issues, rights, and culture, in order to promote acceptance and tolerance.
Meetings: Thursdays, from 2:30-3:30 in the LGIR
Membership: Attend meetings, open to all students
Gospel Choir:
Advisors: Ms. Parker
Description: Gospel Choir is a student run ensemble that celebrates the musical diversity of
Nottingham. The ensemble is open to anyone with a passion to sing.
Meetings: Monday/Wednesday, 2:30 – 3:15

Jazz Combo:
Advisor: Mr. Paris
Description: We play jazz combo music and work on improvisation techniques. Beginning
players are welcomed. Each year the jazz combo plays many concerts at school and community
events.
Meetings: We meet during 1st lunch on Tuesdays and Thursday
Membership: Beginners and experience players all welcomed. See Mr. Paris.
Key Club:
Advisor: Mr. T. Little
Description: Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a
student-led organization whose goal is to teach leadership through helping.
Meetings: Time varies. See Mr. T Little in room 236
Membership: Must attend meetings to join
Math Team:
Advisor: Ms. Gentry
Description: Do you like puzzles and number games? Does factoring make you feel happy? Do
you have a favorite Pythagorean Triple? If so, join the Nottingham Math Team and compete
against hundreds of students from all over Onondaga County. At each math meet, you will
encounter challenging and fun math problems to work on individually or with fellow team
members. It's better than math class - you don't have to show your work!
Meetings: Mondays or Tuesdays, usually every other week. See Ms. Gentry in room 232
Membership: Must attend meetings to join.
Mock Trial:
Advisor: Mr. D. Little
Description: A state wide competition designed to introduce students to law, courtroom
procedures and the art of debate. It is organized by the New York State Bar Association. Each
year, schools from across the state give a fictitious case with six witnesses and a series of
exhibits.
Meetings: Mock Trial season normal runs from mid-December to as late as May

National Honor Society:
Advisor: Mr. D. Little
Description: This is more than just an honor roll. Our chapter establishes rules for membership
that are based upon a student's outstanding performance in the areas of:
Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. These criteria for selection form the
foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built.
Meetings: The second Wednesday of every month in room 248

Nottingham Film Society
Advisor: Mr. T. Little
Description: A group of movie and film aficionados gather in this club to discuss, watch, and
appreciate various films. Bring your popcorn!
Meetings: Friday in the Large Group Instruction Room at 3:00

NSBE:
Advisor: Mr. Baxter, Ms. Acosta, Ms. Raeford
Description: The goal of the National Society of Black Engineers is to increase the number of
culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and
positively impact the community. Students take part in activities and competitions engaging
them in engineering. The high school competitions consist of: NASCAR Ten80, Science Fair, &
Try-Math-a-lon.
Meetings: Saturday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Membership: NSBE is filled for teams and competitions, but if you have any questions please
contact Mr. Baxter.
Recycling Club
Advisor: Mr. Austin & Ms. Defuria
Description: If you are interested in helping the environment, then you need to get involved
with us! We work to help make Nottingham a better place through recycling and other
activities.

Description: Getting together to play and learn about the sport of rugby.

WeLearn Distance Learning Bookclub
Advisor: Ms. Page
Description: All high school students are encouraged to participate! This year, we will be
offering a new Book Club format! If you love to read great books and share your thoughts then
this is a place for you! Our goal is to read many of the fabulous authors from Teen Book Fest
Live and then attend the festival at Nazareth College in the spring to hear the authors discuss
their books!
Meetings: Twice a month in the library. Meeting on Thursday but may have to change

Shakespeare Club/All-Night Playwright
Advisor: Mr. Austin & Ms. Fennessy
Description: Students get together to engage in writing and appreciation of Shakespeare and
scriptwriting.
Meetings: All-Night Playwright takes place in January

Ski Club
Advisor: Ms. Ferlenda
Description: Students have the opportunity to go skiing locally and learn the lifelong hobby of
either skiing or snowboarding.

Sources of Strength (SOS):

Description: Sources of Strength is a student centered strengths based suicide prevention
project. Our goal is to connect peers and caring adults in order to prevent suicide and promote
an environment of health and well-being.
Meetings: Monthly with Activities in between
Membership: All can be involved in school wide activities! To be a peer leader they must be
identified and trained, this is done by the adult advisors.
Spotlighting Justice:
Advisor: Ms. Benedetto
Description: Together we are working to promote awareness on a variety of topics and to shine a
spotlight on issues of social inequality using our experiences as urban students in a public high
school as a point of entry in dialogue and in action projects.
Meeting: Each week we meet to organize our projects and brainstorm ways to share our
knowledge with members of our school and local community. We also model how students,
teachers, administrators, graduate students and professors can collectively raise our voices to
help transform our communities.

S.T.E.M/Robotics Club
Advisor: Mr. English
Description: STEM, or Science Technology Engineering and Math compete in a series of events
throughout the school year including bridge building at the MOST, Robotics competition events,
the SCSD Boat Regatta, and the Syracuse Rocket Clubs competition. We present students with a
challenge and they have to work collaboratively on a team to build the best solution to that
problem for each event.

String Orchestra:
Advisor: Mr. Paris
Description- Interested in music? We play string orchestra music and we are comprised of
experienced players. Beginning players are taken on a case by case basis. Each year the string
orchestra plays 3 to 4 concerts.
Meetings: We meet after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Membership: Experience players, with beginners taken on a case by case basis. See Mr. Paris.

Advisor: Ms. Ferlenda
Description: Yearbook at Nottingham is actually a course that is offered. It is created to design
the annual Nottingham Yearbook.
Meetings: Students meet with Ms. Ferlenda in the class each day.
Membership: Students must register to take Yearbook.
Yoga Club
Advisor: Ms. Allen
Description: Are you interested in doing yoga? Do you want to stay healthy or get healthy?
Then yoga might be for you!
