JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Manager - Roma Children’s Community Education & Outreach Project RESPONSIBLE TO: Bryson Intercultural Manager LOCATION: Belfast OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB: To be responsible for the delivery and management of an education and early year’s development programme conducted in the English language for Roma children 0 - 10 years of age, supplemented by community outreach support to parents and young children. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Operational 1. To manage a small team delivering a timetabled programme of activities and outreach work that engage Roma children in a range of positive educational learning experiences suited to their personal development. 2. To manage a small team delivering a programme that will assist Roma children in the transition to formal primary school education and that increases levels of primary school attendance and participation. 3. Organise and implement a referral/review pathway to ensure new Children can participate in the project. 4. To set project objectives in partnership with the team members to ensure the effective delivery of the project. 5. To ensure that the projects complies with the full range of Policies including Child Protection, Health and Safety at work, control and access to records. 6. Ensure strict management of files and adherence to record-keeping, report writing, Quality Assurance paper work by all staff members 7. Monitor effectiveness of the service and facilitate evaluations in accordance with Quality Initiatives. 8. Manage and monitor project statistics for the relevant to Bryson, funders and for Quality Initiatives. 9. To deputise in the absence of the Children’s Educational Support Worker delivering the programme. People 1. To provide monthly supervision to the staff team, and ensure staff performance reviews are completed and reviewed. 2. To facilitate monthly team meetings 3. To be responsible for all aspects of performance management to include individual and team discipline, target setting and work prioritisation. I/M/B/1301 4. To assist with project recruitment and staff induction in co-ordination with Bryson Charitable Group HR Department and in adherence with Equality Commission guidelines. 5. To manage the disciplinary grievance processes, when required Networking 1. To contribute to working relationships with the Community, Voluntary and Statutory Sector and church groups interested in the welfare of the Roma Community 2. To work with the Roma community to encourage participation in the project and to manage the allocation of places in a fair and transparent manner. 3. To consult with parents, carers, children and stakeholders in order to determine the educational and social developmental needs of each child who access the project. 4. To work closely with local primary schools and other statutory and voluntary stakeholders in support of meeting the project aims. 5. To identify and engage with external education and training providers necessary to deliver the project outcomes. Environmental 1. To be responsible for the maintenance of a clean, healthy and organised environment. 2. To ensure the implementation of policies relating to the health, safety and protection of children. 3.
