Duties of the Treasurer
The Treasurer shall be appointed by the Board at its Annual Organizational Meeting in July and
shall perform the following duties:
1. assume responsibility for custody of Eastern Suffolk BOCES funds; such responsibility
shall include receipt of ESBOCES money and deposit of same in banks designated by
ESBOCES;
2. maintain custody and safekeeping of the check-signing machine; the Treasurer or
Deputy Treasurer is authorized to sign checks for ESBOCES;
3. prepare accounts and reports as required by law, Commissioner’s Regulations, or the
Board;
4. pay bills for ESBOCES as they become due; and
5. assume other duties as assigned by the Board.
The signature of the Treasurer or Deputy Treasurer shall be required on all checks drawn on
accounts authorized by the Board. The Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer are also authorized to
transfer funds between accounts.
Before entering upon the duties of the office, the Treasurer shall file with this Board a bond in
such amount as ESBOCES shall annually designate. Said bond shall be reviewed by the Board
at its Organizational Meeting in July.
