KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY, INC.® WILLIAM L. CRUMP HISTORY AWARD The William L. Crump History Award was established to create a greater interest in, knowledge of and appreciation for the expanding history of Kappa Alpha Psi. This award is a fine tribute to our former Grand Historian, who persevered for many years in maintaining the legacy of our great Fraternity. The first awards were presented in Orlando, Florida, at the 70th Grand Chapter Meeting. The seventh competition winners will be recognized at the 76th Grand Chapter Meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina. The history awards are competitive on both the undergraduate and alumni levels. A medal, designed by Nathan Cooley of the Gary Alumni Chapter, and a certificate will be awarded to a maximum of three winners in the two categories. Here are the guidelines: 1. An essay on some historical aspect of the Fraternity, detailing some person, chapter or movement. Actual topics, however, are left to the discretion of the writer. 2. Essays should have a minimum length of 1,000 words. 3. Essays should be screened in the chapter, and the best one would be sent to the Province for further screening and evaluation. 4. The Province, through its own committee, will select the best undergraduate and alumni essay to be forwarded to the national committee for final judging and selection of the awardees. 5. The essay adjudged the best in each category may be published in The Journal. 6. Essays should be forwarded to the International Headquarters within two weeks following the Province Meeting. The compiled essays will then be sent to the members of the national committee. Inquiries concerning this award should be addressed to: Dr. Ralph J.
