Case: Accessible beaches in Gandia
”
1.1 Abstract:
”
The policy on quality of Gandia´s city Council introduced on the beaches of the
township, is a priority commitment of the Consistory for its users.
Since the Public Council assembly took the step of certifying the quality of its
beaches, back in the year 2000, one of the measures to implement was to
facilitate the access to the Nord beach to all the ones who visit us annually.
Under this perspective, the Tourism Department, which manages the Beaches
of our city, took all the measures within its power to achieve this goal, on the
understanding that the group of people with reduced mobility could not be
excluded from the right to have a bath in the most dignified possible way.
Therefore, since the beginning of the total reform of the seafront in the Nord
Beach, this group was taken into account and the appropriate steps were taken
to facilitate their access to most public and private services that are provided

Possibly, the service of adapted bathing, is one of the most requested by users,
and it has come to represent more than 20% of the activity carried out during
the summer by the Rescue and Life-saving Service.
