Please carefully read and complete both sides of the following Manager/Coach Application and Contract for
Corvallis Little League. No application will be considered unless this form is filled out in its entirety and
signed.
Corvallis Little League recognizes that the adult volunteers who manage and coach are the backbone of the
organization. Managers and coaches make a significant contribution of talent, time, and effort for the
betterment of the Corvallis community. Corvallis Little League strives to maximize coaching effectiveness in
order to create the best Little League experience for all participants. Managers and coaches accept primary
responsibility for organizing the team and establishing a POSITIVE team environment.
In making this application, I certify that I am not a user of drugs, nor do I drink to excess or use tobacco
products at Little League related functions. I further state that I am not at this time and have not within the
past three years been under psychiatric care, the nature of which would affect my relationship with Little
League children.

Manager/Coach Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend League meetings, training, and clinics
Participate in League functions, including Opening
Day Ceremonies
Attend umpire education clinics for coaches
Handle administrative requirements of the team
Attend tryouts and draft team as necessary
Hold a team meeting before first practice date
Select a team parent
Participate in team practices/games
Pick-up, safeguard, and return team equipment
Participate in all-star team selection and voting
Work with all League personnel and accept the
decisions of the League Board of Directors as final
Learn and abide by National Little League Rules and
Regulations, as well as Corvallis Little League
rules, code of conduct and safety plan
Provide a positive and safe experience
Participate in League and team fundraising efforts
Foster good sportsmanship
Encourage player skill improvement
Build player self-esteem
Teach and reinforce appropriate game skills
Create opportunities for each player to succeed
Develop team and league camaraderie
Keep players active during practice sessions
Satisfy playing requirements for all players during games

Manager/Coach Selection:
Each season, the goal of Corvallis Little League is to select the most qualified and experienced
Managers and Coaches to teach and supervise our players. Following are some basic policies that
Corvallis Little League uses to select Managers and Coaches:

There is no tenure in serving as a Manager or Coach in Corvallis Little League. All appointments to
serve as Manager or Coach expire on September 15th annually.
 Selection of Managers, Coaches, and umpires is in local league jurisdiction and not subject to
intervention from District, Regional, or National Little League Headquarters.
 Corvallis Little League uses the feedback received on the previous Season Evaluations when
evaluating Manager/Coach applications.
 Corvallis Little League will discuss its decision with any applicant declined for a Manager/Coach
position.

Application to Coach Agreement and Authorization to Conduct Background Investigation
I hereby apply to be a volunteer Manager or Coach for Corvallis Little League. I authorize Corvallis
Little League and/or its agent to conduct a sex offender and background investigation, as required by
Little League Baseball, to evaluate my qualifications to supervise youth. I understand that this
evaluation is conducted solely to assure the safety of children participating in the Corvallis Little League
program and that all information obtained will be confidential in accordance with the law.
If appointed as a volunteer Manager or Coach, I agree to abide by the philosophies and goals of
Corvallis Little League. I will fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my ability and understand that I may
be dismissed at any time for failure to comply with any part of this agreement.
