RADIOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN - LEVEL I Job Code: Pay Grade: 0728 7 Department: Reports To: 25 X-Ray Assembly Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary: This occupation requires analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating radiographs of materials, parts, and welded parts for compliance with customer and company specifications and quality standard, and for developing techniques and standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following and all other duties as may be assigned. Interpret radiographs by: (a) Determining if the x-ray film is quality radiography. (b) Through the evaluation of defects in material and determining the usability of same material. (c) Recognizing the differences between film defects and material defects. 2. Approves techniques and makes recommendations for higher quality radiography. 3. Accepts or rejects material in accordance with the governing specifications. 4. Trains lower rated personnel. 5. When necessary, order supplies. 6. Performs rework, repair and other associated operations in connection with the work described. RADIOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN I JOB DESCRIPTION REV. 03-25-2015 1 Qualifications: Must obtain and maintain Radiographic Tech Level II certification (I.A.W. AIA/NAS 410). Must be able to qualify as Film Processor and as a Technician B. Must be acquainted with major components of an x-ray machine and their functions. Must be able to read blueprints. Education and/or Experience: Must possess documented education and experience necessary to maintain the Level II certification. Must have a rudimentary understanding of various types of welding and welding procedures. Must understand the inverse square law. Must have rudimentary understanding of foundries and castings. Must have a brief understanding of the metallurgy of the materials being examined. Requires good working knowledge of all the specifications applicable to the jobs in the department. Must be capable of discussing problems pertaining to radiography with customers.
