Explanation: The Relationship of the Paper to the Presentation Students will have a general topic such as a country (eg. Argentina) or a person (eg. Evita Perón) and present to the class an overview of that topic IN THE TARGET LANGUAGE. The presentation will be a 3 minute, memorized highlight of the general topic. The presenter will write 2-3 comprehension questions about her presentation in the target language, give the typed questions to the instructor, Fair Poor and after giving the presentation ask her classmates those questions to ensure that they understood. Creativity in visual aids, presentational approach, costuming, etc. will enhance the presentation. For example, a student researching Argentina might take on the persona of a person from that country (Soy argentino.) /or the person researched (Soy Evita Perón). As a student researches the general topic, she will select a focused, in-depth aspect for further research for a 400-500 word (2 page) paper IN ENGLISH. The paper should be based on a student’s interests and academic discipline; for example, a social worker might write about the health care system of a country, while a sports management major might look at sports clubs that play soccer and compare how that differs from school-sponsored programs in the US. The paper and presentation EACH comprise 5% (total 10%) of your final grade in 102.
