Topic- The only way in which Evil can “Flourish” is for good man to do nothing.
Introduction
The only way in which Evil can “Flourish” is for good man to do nothing. Basically this
means that the only way in which Evil can grow is if the good men don’t do anything.
For example: When the pigs took the apple and the milk animals did nothing and in that
case the evil flourished, if they could have done something about that then this wouldn’t
have happened, that’s why we say that the only way in which the evil can grow is for
good man to do nothing, that’s what happened here the evil was pigs Napolean and
Squealer, the good were the animals, the pigs always stole the apple and the other
animals didn’t do anything, in that way the evil pigs flourished.

Napolean- Napolean acted like a good person in the starting, but when Napolean got
kicked out of the farm he became evil. He is one of the evils of the farm. He took over the
farm after kicking the Snowball out of the farm. He is a evil pig. There is a quote where it
says about the relationship between Snowball and Napolean “ These two disagreed at
every point disagreement was possible”. This was the quote where it tells bout their
relationship in between both of them. Napolean stolen Snowballs windmill program, even
he was the one who kicked him out of the farm and took over the farm, he always give
good facilities to pigs other than animals. He blamed Snowball about the destruction of
the windmill. The quote where it says that is “Snowball has done this thing”. “Traitor
crept here under the cover of night and destroyed our work” “I pronounce the death
sentence upon snowball”. If the animals could have done something about Napolean than
he couldn’t have done this thing every one would have been equal, he didn’t have
changed the seven commandments. If Snowball have done something about him then this
wouldn’t have happen, he should have stopped him when he stole the apple and the milk,
from their Napolean became Evil. The only way in which Napolean the evil flourished
was that Napolean and other animals didn’t do anything.
Squealer- He was like the media of the farm, if we compare it to the Russian revolution.
He always supported Napolean, he steel the milk and the apple with Napolean during the
time when Snowball was the leader. Even he helped Napolean to change the seven
commandments of the farm. He always helped Napolean in everything whatever he did,
like making the decisions of the farm, not letting the other animals to express their
thoughts, “ He would be only to happy for you to let you make the decisions for yourself
but sometimes you make the wrong decisions”. He said “ Snowball was in league with
Jones from the start”. “He was Jones secret agent all the time”, he made everyone on the
side of Napolean, but the animals didn’t knew that what they are doing. If the animals of
the farm wouldn’t have believed him and could have done something about him then
everyone in the farm would have got to express their thoughts, in every single decisions.
So here the animals were the good person, and the Squealer was the bad one, the good
animals didn’t do anything about him that’s this happened the animals were treated really
badly in the farm. The Squealer the evil wouldn’t have done this all thing if the animals
the good men’s stooped him in the beginning, because they did nothing that’s why all this
happened.
Pigs- The pigs who always get more than other animals which were in the farm and they
didn’t have to work. They didn’t do anything, they just slept, they were the laziest one in
the farm, but still they always got more to eat. When animals asked that why do always
pigs get more than animals then they said that they work more then other animals, but
this wasn’t a truth. The pigs stole the apple and the milk, but nobody in the farm did
anything, that’s why they became so lazy and if some body would nave done something
thing the evil of the pig in the farm didn’t have flourished. At the end there were schools
for the pigs, but not for the other animals, that’s how the other animals were treated,
during that time there was no difference between pigs and man because the pigs were on
their two legs, it was hard to find out who is a pig and who is a man, “The creatures
outside looked from pig to man, and man to pig but…impossible to say which was
which”. If the animals could have stopped that in the beginning then the evil couldn’t
have grown. The evil the pigs, if the animals would stop them then the other animals
were also been treated like pigs, because they didn’t do that, the evil flourished and the
good animals were not able to do anything at the end.
Boxer- Boxer was a hard worker in the farm, he never did anything bad, he always
worked hard and didn’t say anything to Napolean. But what happened to him he got
killed he thought of saying anything at the end, but then he didn’t have anytime “ he tried
to marshal his thoughts, but in the end he could think of nothing to say”, if he could have
protest again Napolean in the beginning when Napolean treated them badly, then
everything could have changed, because he was the strongest person in the farm. Instead
of saying anything he always said that “Napolean is always right” “I will work harder”. If
Boxer has did something about Napolean then the evil couldn’t have flourished in the
farm and he would have been alive. The only way in which the evil Napolean flourish is
for Boxer to do nothing. Boxer could have easily kicked all the pigs out of farm, but he
didn’t do that because he thought that Napolean is always right.
Dogs- Dogs the evil of the farm, they kicked Snowball out of the farm and helped
Napolean in every single thing. To control that situation what happened was that
“Squealer spoke so persuasively” and the dogs “growled so threateningly”. The dogs
were with Napolean when they were pups. They always guarded Napolean. They always
got more than other animals like pigs because they helped Napolean to scare the animals
in the farm. If the dogs were with their mother in the farm and they couldn’t have got
stolen by Napolean then they must have been good or when Napolean did this thing if the
animals could have get the dogs back then this wouldn’t have happen and Snowball could
have been the leader of the farm. The only way in which they became evil was that the
animals didn’t do anything about them. The good person didn’t do anything; if they could
have then they were with Snowball now, supporting him not Napolean.
Snowball- Snowball who was known as a good person in the farm, he was the leader of
the farm after old major, did agreed on the seven a commandments of the farm.

Snowball had a good behavior with everyone. He always won in the debates with
napoleon that’s why Napolean didn’t liked him “Snowball often won over the majority
by his brilliant speeches”. He got kicked out of the farm from those dogs, and nobody did
anything and there the evil Napolean flourished in the farm. If the animals could have
protested at that time then this wouldn’t have happen and the evil in the farm wouldn’t
have flourished. So the animals didn’t do anything about kicking snowball out of the
farm that’s why evil flourish and Napolean took over the farm.

Atticus- Atticus, who is a good man in this book, but sometimes he got angry. He is Jem
and Scout’s father. One of the good characters of the book, he is too old to play with his
brothers. Atticus helped Tom Robinson in his case, but he thought that they were “we
were licked a hundred years before we started”. He was one of the best lawyers. He
always tried to answer the questions, whatever was asked by his children’s. He think that
Mayelle “ she has broken a rigid and time-honored code of our society” “she is the victim
of cruel poverty and ignorance but I cannot pity her, she is white” “what is the evidence
of her offence – Tom Robinson, a human being”. If Atticus could have done something
about Mayelle after Tom’s death then at least they could have stopped her, so she can’t d
anything like this again. So here the evil is the Mayelle, flourished because Atticus didn’t
do anything about her, if they could have than this Tom’s case wouldn’t have happened.
Boo Radley- He is known as a bad character in the stating of the book. He is “a
malevolent phantom” Jem believed Mr. Radley “kept him chained to the bed” Jem said
he “ dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch” He is from Radley house, there
are rumors around the Town that Boo is a ghost, a bad one. Boo is also known as
“Arthur”. There are rumors around Maycomb that he is really bad and never comes out of
the house because he hates everyone; he has never been nice to anyone. So the things,
which made him bad, were the rumors. So the evil is rumors of Boo Radley that he is
bad, but he is not and the good man here is people of town. The only way in which the
rumors of him flourished in the town was that the good man’s didn’t do anything. If some
people of the town could have stopped spreading the rumors that Boo is bad then the
other people wouldn’t have think that Boo is bad. The only way in which the rumors
flourished was that the good man’s of the town didn’t do anything about the rumors, they
didn’t stopped it, which make the Boo bad in front of the other people’s eyes.
Tom Robinson- He is a good person, he is black and so he is a hard worker. At that time
the blacks were treated badly so he had a low cast job. He lived happily with his family.
One day while coming back from his work Mayelle called him at home to fix a door, but
the door was already fixed so he told that it is already fixed, but at that time she was on
top of him. She court case that he raped him but he didn’t. The case went on they had few
chances to win, Atticus was defending him. At the end it seems like they were winning,
but while going back to the jail Tom ran, this was because the police have given him so
many chances to run, so that they can kill him, but he never ran, at the end he finally ran
away and got killed that’s what Atticus thinks. So the evil here is Mayelle and the police
who blamed him that he raped Mayelle and police killed him because of that court case
the evil flourished and when he ran he got killed. Basically because Mayelle blamed him,
the evil flourished, the people who wanted him to get into the jail, white people, the only
way in which he couldn’t have got killed if other people have done something. This was
the quote where they talked about his death Tom trying to escape from prison “ he was
running…. He just broke into a blind raving charge at the fence and started climbing
over” “seventeen bullet holes in him…they didn’t have to shot him that much”.
Mayelle Ewelle- She is a really bad girl in this book always blamed other people of
something they wouldn’t have done. Like she blamed Tom that he raped him “That
nigger yonder took advantage of me”. Atticus though that she is a “ she has broken a rigid
and time-honored code of our society” “she is the victim of cruel poverty and ignorance
but I cannot pity her, she is white”. “What is the evidence of her offence – Tom
Robinson, a human being”. She is a really bad character. If the people of the town would
have stopped him first when she did all this stuff, she wouldn’t have bee like this. When
she blamed Tom the other people of the town should have not believed her because if
they knew that she is like that then they wouldn’t have believe her. The evil is Mayelle
and the only way in which his cruelty flourished was that the other people of the town,
the good man didn’t do anything about her.
Scout- She is a girl. She is Jem’s sister and also a really un behaved girl. She doesn’t
have manners. She is always rude to Calpurnia. She always had fight with Calpurnia. She
also had fight in school sometimes with Walter and other students. She had a good
behavior with his father, but sometimes she gets rude to his father too. She always tries to
be with her brother, but when Dill comes they tell her to go away because she is a girl.
She had a fight with someone at the end and Jem got injured. She always wanted to meet
Boo Radley. So the evil here is the people who made her like that, like she had a bad
behaviors with everyone that’s because people made her like that so the evil here are the
people and because after making her like that the good man didn’t do anything about it.
Basically she had a bad behavior with everyone and the she is like that because of some
of the people, like Calpurnia, and her father didn’t do anything about it that’s why she
became more bad and the evil flourished, if they could have done something then she
wouldn’t have been like this.
Mrs. Dubose- She is really old and she is mean to everyone, that’s what Jem and Scout
thinks. They hated her because Mrs. Dubose “your fathers no better than the niggers and
trash he works for” Jem to Scout “shut up …pull every hair out of my head” “kicked me”
She has a serious problem because of that she is a bit lazy. When Jem and Scout went to
her house to read the book, they were really scared of her, but the time passes and at the
end she died. Then Atticus said that she was really brave because she had a serious
problem still she fought with that, she is a really brave, he haven’t seen a lady like that in
his whole life. So here the only way in which the evil Mrs. Dubose flourished was
because of those kids and because of her problem, she was sick and the good man didn’t
do anything about that like, if other people could have done anything about her then she
could have been really well.
In conclusion I would like to say that mainly in this whole essay what I talked about was
that the only way in which evil can flourish is for good men to do nothing, which means
that the only way in which the evil thing can grow is if a good person do nothing about it,
if he don’t do something about that evil and I have given you so many examples of it
above. Another example for this would be that if the people in the Animal Farm would
have protested when Snowball was kicked out of the farm than there weren’t evil in the
Animal Farm, the evil wouldn’t have flourished in animal farm.
