Rhetorical Theory: Focusing primarily on how communities adjust their inducement and decisionmaking norms to accommodate internal and external change; current projects explore the decisionmaking norms in virtual organizations and rural communities. Corporate Discourse: Using rhetorical
criticism as the methodology, analysis of business speakers, corporate apologia, and the discourses of
sustainability and corporate citizenship. Communication in the Disciplines: Pedagogical research and
curriculum development in applied communication, primarily in business contexts.

certification. A self-study version of the course was made available on line and tested with eight

Communication Management: 1997- Redesigned course as advanced management course focusing on
managerial issues of internal, external and operational communication functions.2008Redesigned course to highlight communication ethics for inclusion in the Ethics minor.
MBA Topics: 2000-2003- Created several one-unit courses in managerial communication topics.
MBA Capstone Experience: 2003- Incorporated managerial and consulting communication instruction
