(f) Notices of Motions submitted by Councillors Councillor Mark Casey. “I propose that this Council makes the installation of duel flush toilets mandatory for every planning application where wash rooms are required. 2 Toilets account for approximately 30% of water used indoors. By installing a Dual Flush toilet we can save approximately 40% of water being flushed down the drain. Also, that this Council writes to the Minister for Environment, Community & Local Government requesting that a grant to change out single flush toilets to duel flush toilets be made available to encourage existing homeowners to switch to duel flush toilets.” Councillor Micheal Carrigy. “I call on Longford County Council to review the Development Contribution Scheme to make it more attractive to locate businesses in County Longford.” Councillor Paul Connell. “I would like to propose that a corridor or corridors of key town centre areas be designated as priority areas and as such, would qualify for further development contributions above and beyond what has been agreed nationally. Additionally, I would like to propose that designated enterprises such as accommodation providing 30+ rooms and other key developments to be recognised by the Longford Local Authorities as exempt from development levies altogether.” Councillor Tom Victory. “That Longford County Council erect Anti-Litter signs and slogans on the existing ‘Welcome to Longford’ signs on the main entrances into County Longford.” Councillor P.J. Reilly. “That Longford County Council writes to Mr. Phil Hogan, T.D., Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, for an update regarding funding for the refurbishment of Granard Library and Town Hall, as this project is now first prioritised in line for funding in our County.” Councillor Peggy Nolan. “I wish to ascertain from the Planning Officer how many people have applied for planning permission for wind turbines and how do these applications fit in with our County Development Plan”. 3 7. (copies enclosed) 4 (b) Notices of Motions submitted by Councillors, as listed hereunder Councillor Barney Steele. “I request that the number of Gardai in Ballymahon Garda station be restored to five, so that the Gardai in Ballymahon are not doing duty in other towns.” Councillor Micheal Carrigy. “I call on the School Transport Office to review secondary school bus routes in light of new regulations regarding school boundaries.” Councillor Denis Glennon. “With the proposed integration and regionalisation of the rural transport scheme, that Longford County Council writes to the relevant Minister in support of the retention of the current rural transport system as it operates in County Longford, which is seen as a model for other counties to emulate as regards its management, operation, and delivery of a high quality of service to rural users.” 9.
